As a society, we need to encourage both sexes to become comfortable with who they are naturally and all the messy, uncomfortable, stumbling, tantalizing, and glorious twists and turns that come with it. Men and women need to show each other grace and respect as they engage as sexual beings in whatever sphere they interact.

Men and women need to show each other grace and respect as they engage as sexual beings in whatever sphere they interact.

It would help if we assumed the best of each other instead of the worst. Let men love a woman’s beauty, and let a woman delight in a man’s competence and success. This is part of the dance between the masculine and the feminine, and we’d be miserable if we stopped it.

Exactly. Instead, our perverse, sodomized, leftist culture demands that we all assume the worst of each other.

Precisely. IOW, socialism is cynicism.

But not cynicism about everything; that is quite impossible. If you are cynical about one thing, you cannot avoid naiveté about its opposite. Anyone who hears negative things about society - and journalism specializes in telling us negative things about society - cannot but think, “there oughta be a law.” And anyone who becomes cynical about society not only wants “a law,” they be come naive about the downside of government, and promote tyranny. For the public good, of course . . .

The very real contrast between society and government is the crux of the first two paragraphs of Common Sense, and IMHO they hold up well today.
