CQ's main audience always seemed to be gay men. Gay men are into "fashion". Hetero guys tend to buy conservative suits for work, and jeans for weekends, and not pay attention to GQ's notions of "fashion". In my younger days, I would be much more likely to pay attention to a Playboy article on men's clothing than look at GQ.

OMG! I clicked on GQ.com and took a quick look at their page on politics, hoping too find this ridiculous story and comment. What I found instead was indeed shocking. Notice the topic images consisting of, left to right, Trump, a hand holding a gun pointed at Trump, and a grinning Obama.
