Something has to be done to eliminate the influence of Al Shabaab, and her touchy-feely approach has not worked. The Pentagon announcement about three months ago that the US was about to support the beleaguered Somalia government was received with applause in Mogadiscu, but not among Shackelford and her colleagues at State.
