"He says he tries to use Facebook as little as possible, and that his children “aren’t allowed to use that shit.”

Sounds like a responsible parent.

It appears this Dr. Morbius has some clue. An entire planet’s population had to be wiped out before the quest for truth was found on “Forbidden Planet” Progress has its downfalls.

If used correctly, social media is an excellent vehicle to get your views across. Look at Trump. He is a master at it. I use it for political news and viewpoints. Very little personal things. I get lots of news via FB and Twitter.

He says he tries to use Facebook as little as possible, and that his children “aren’t allowed to use that shit.”

Meanwhile, Facebook has added a messaging service for 6- to 12-year-olds. They all know what they're doing, making life harder for all the parents who don't have nannies on shift 24/7.

On the upside, my husband finally figured out what I meant by "internet kill switch," and now I have a sharp little system whereby I can disconnect any device from the network with just a click. The teenagers hate it even though I haven't used it yet, bwahahahahaha!

Another former Facebook executive has spoken out about the harm the social network is doing to civil society around the world.

Personally I think the divisiveness in this country has been exponentially worsened by Facebook. It used to be people knew what to say/not to say in a civil society. Then along came Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and more where people can post whatever offensive brain-fart they think of, or tell someone off whenever they feel like it.

Social Media is the worst thing to happen in this country in my lifetime, IMO. (Well, second to 9-11-01 anyway...)

Facebook for social dopamine junkies as if “like” and positive responses spell more than mere like; that are translated as “see, what I said/posted was ‘truth’ “. And yes the vast majority of facebook folks have zero interest in dialogue. If you are not providing confirmation to a poster you’re suppose to just be silent; don’t deny their dopamine and push up there adrenaline.

Yep, this is the effect of new technology in its infancy. Welcome to the new digital individualism. All attempts at channeling the FREE Internet towards political agendas will be laughable. Prepare to be pummeled by points of view that are not your own, LOL!
