A Pentagon official tells The Associated Press that transgender people can enlist in the military beginning Jan. 1, despite President Donald Trump's opposition.
The new policy reflects growing legal pressure on the issue and the difficult hurdles the federal government would have to cross to enforce Trump's demand to ban transgender individuals from the military. Two federal courts already have ruled against the ban.
Potential transgender recruits will have to overcome a lengthy and strict set of physical, medical and mental conditions that make it possible, though difficult, for them to join the armed services.
Maj. David Eastburn says the enlistment of transgender recruits will start Jan. 1 and go on amid the legal battles. The Department of Defense also is studying the issue.

How, exactly, does that work? Who is in charge?
I believe that all Trump requested, was a stay of the implementation to force transgender acceptance until after the first of the year.
This announcement stating the pentagon will do what it wants after the first of the year, is ridiculous.
If there was a source, it needs to be found out and that person should lose their career over this.
OF COURSE THEY CAN!
But they cannot expect any special treatment for their transgenderism.

I can see it now, some wizard in the Pentagon decides that they can increase equipment numbers by recruiting people who “identify” as certain types of military hardware.
“This is Fredryka, a genderfluid person who also identifies as an uprated M1A1 Abrams.”
So the courts run our military now? If true, WE ARE DOOMED AND WILL NEVER WIN ANOTHER WAR.
