Two years ago I was awakened at 0430 to the sight and sound of two thugs trying to break in my motel room through the balcony glass slider. I grabbed my Glock 23, which was right next to the bed, and went to the slider. I pulled the curtain aside with one hand and let the barrel of my Glock rest against the glass. As soon as the thugs heard the barrel tap the glass and saw it pointed right at them they bolted so fast it was unbelievable. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
I was watching some kid wandering around in our neighbor’s back yard and grabbed my shotgun and kept watching, with phone in hand calling the police. The kid hopped my wood fence. I stepped outside and yelled “Hey!” and lifted the shotgun up a bit higher with one hand. He cleared that 6-foot fence like it was nothing!
The police were there in 5 minutes, but I’m guessing they never caught him as they never returned back to my house to ID him or anything.
