In a way, this is good. Playing in an also-ran bowl in a backwater venue saves the embarrassment of another blowout on the Big Stage (CFP).

The "next year" bromide sounds an awful lot like the hollow, happy-talk post-mortems following the Michigan game during the long, dreary John Cooper years. Our only hope is that J. K. Dobbins will be the next Zeke Elliott, and whoever replaces Barrett will do a Cardale Jones.

They couldn’t find Iowa on a MAP.

They are afraid to come NORTH.

Tell me the last time they played in the State of Michigan, or Ohio?

Bullshit. SEC teams play aganst players who would start on any D1 team in the country. Every game is a “rivalry” game.

Since strength of schedule is one of the factors in ranking teams now, it actually doesn’t work in a team’s favor to schedule those games as much as it used to. With these conferences getting so big and with every major conference playing a championship game now, it’s impossible to finish a season undefeated or with one loss unless you’re beating a lot of pretty good teams.

Well apparently there’s a new QB focused coach in Alachua County that could use him if Kirby Smart doesn’t want him... Just saying.

I know they played Penn State a few years ago.

And the game that changed Bama football history was when they played USC in 1970 and got creamed. Bear Bryant intentionally scheduled that game so as to convince the Bama higher-ups to allow blacks to play for Bama, and then Bama went on to dominate the 70s.

Georgia played in Indiana this year, with a freshman quarterback making his first start.

Then why was the highest rated CFP championship game Ohio State vs Oregon with an 18.2? Because more people live in Ohio. The Clemson-Alabama games were a 15.3 and a 15.8. What’s important for the future of college football is nationwide draw, not regional draw. What was the rating of the Iron Bowl outside of Alabama or the southeast?

Bama has a set schedule of real competition every year. There are a few openings to play small teams that want to make some needed money for their programs. Bama schedules a reputable nonconference team for opening games each year. Bama trounced Michigan on a neutral field. Bama trounced Wisconsin on a neutral field. Bama trounced USC on a neutral field. Bama played PennState two times within the last ten years, once at PSU and once in Tuscaloosa. Bama won both. Bama lost money going to Penn State. Penn State made money coming to Alabama.

You are ignorant.

“Georgia played in Indiana this year, with a freshman quarterback making his first start.”

What little no name team did Georgia play in Indiana to open their season?

Don’t think UGA will let him transfer there.

All the big teams do this and the SEC is no exception.

Check out “does the SEC have a weak non-conference schedule” at seccountry.com You will see a list of some of the bogus games they play. Besides, not even all the teams in the SEC are a challenge.

Maybe it’s a Southern thing, but I can’t stand Clemson’s trash-talking coach. Mark Richt (now at Miami) was UGA coach for 14 yrs. and was/is a class act.
