That’s strange, isn’t it? You’d think self-preservation would kick in for the agents. I think most players have been coddled in a bubble for awhile, so any agent who speaks the truth may risk instantly being fired, especially since I assume almost all of them are white.
A good and talented agent should be able to talk some sense into a wayward player, reminding the player that he or she as the agent is looking out for the player’s best interest.
But you’re right about the bloated self-esteem these players have. They think they know it all. And thus they would likely fire a good agent if that agent does not submit to the player’s vanity.
