NYT: Top FBI Agent Removed From Russia Probe Over Anti-Trump Text Messages
Townhall.com ^ | December 2, 2017 | Timothy Meads

The New York Times reports that special counsel Robert Mueller removed a top FBI agent from the on-going Russian election-interference investigation after it was discovered the agent sent text messages displaying political animosity towards President Trump.

"The agent, Peter Strzok, is considered one of the most experienced and trusted F.B.I. counterintelligence investigators. He helped lead the investigation into whether Hillary Clinton mishandled classified information on her private email account, and then played a major role in the investigation into links between President Trump’s campaign and Russia.

But Mr. Strzok was reassigned this summer from Mr. Mueller’s investigation to the F.B.I.’s human resources department, where he has been stationed since. The people briefed on the case said the transfer followed the discovery of text messages in which Mr. Strzok and a colleague reacted to news events, like presidential debates, in ways that could appear critical of Mr. Trump.

A lawyer for Mr. Strzok declined to comment. A spokeswoman for the Justice Department said that “we are aware of the allegation and are taking any and all appropriate steps.”

Mr. Strzok’s reassignment shows that Mr. Mueller moved swiftly in the face of what could be perceived as bias by one of his agents amid a politically charged inquiry into Mr. Trump’s campaign and administration. But the existence of the text messages is likely to fuel claims by Mr. Trump that the F.B.I. has a bias against him and that he is a target of the “deep state” — a term used to describe the notion that government intelligence agencies secretly conspire together."

As the Times notes, Mueller's "swift action" may help silence some critics who believe the man is working to defeat President Trump, regardless of the facts. But, given Strzok's role in this investigation as well as others, it more likely will only increase speculation that the FBI is not acting honestly.

According to the Washington Post, Strzok's actions may have influenced other investigations, such as the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's illegal e-mail use. The "text messages with a colleague" the Times refers to is  regarding messages critical of President Trump exchanged with FBI attorney Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was having an affair.

"Peter Strzok, as deputy head of counterintelligence at the FBI, was a key player in the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server to do government work as secretary of state, as well as the probe into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.

During the Clinton investigation, Strzok was involved in a romantic relationship with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who worked for Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, according to the people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

The extramarital affair was problematic, these people said, but of greater concern among senior law enforcement officials were text messages the two exchanged during the Clinton investigation and campaign season, in which they expressed anti-Trump sentiments and other comments that appeared to favor Clinton."

This story will be updated if there is a presidential response specifically about Strzok.

I think that requires a congressional investigation, or perhaps a special council to look into those allegations. Like an iceberg, we only get to see a fraction of whats there.

They kept puffing him up as a great agent while brushing off his lack of character and sound judgement.

He sounds like a perfect Clinton mole. Not a lick of ethics and lots of vices.

Tamara Page the mother of top Justice Department anti-Trump Russia witch-hunting team trial attorney Lisa Page has promoted the lie that the FBI and its now fired director James Comey were working to elect President Donald J. Trump, spread statements by Hillary Clinton that President Trump is a “demagogue who is unqualified and unsuited,” and loved hearing that Comey and DOJ team leader Robert Mueller could “bring down the president,” according to a review of Tamara’s Facebook activity.

The Mueller special counsel team has come under fire for their far-left wing roots, and Lisa’s mother’s actions supporting the hysterical Democrat narrative of Republican collusion with Russia call into question yet another team member’s personal commitment to a fair inquiry.

Tamara boosted a Dec. 19th video of Bill Maher from ATTN: where the HBO host says:

“Shouldn’t Comey and the FBI be checking Putin instead of working to elect Donald Trump? If you can’t get behind opposing that, you are not a patriot and you are certainly not a good American.”

He should go to jail for obstruction of justice on the Clinton email case. I have to say, to much of what is happening now and what we've been dealing with is a consequence of the scummy Clintons. The media turned a blind eye when they stole FBI files, and that was just the beginning of their slime and scum. They were a malignancy that was allowed to grow and metastasize to the point at which it's now almost impossible to reverse the damage these scum did to the nation.

The left is now seeing that even they have been irreversibly damaged by the Clintons, and they are now trying their best to 'resect' the Clintons from the Democrat body politic. Unfortunately for them, the harm the Clintons did (and continue to do) is so extensive and metastatic that it cannot be removed surgically anymore. To rid themselves of what the Clintons have wrought, the complicit Democrats are now going to have to use a systemic approach that will prove toxic to many of their own. It's the price they deserve to pay for looking the other way and ignoring what the Clintons have done to hurt others over years and years.

I’m at a loss for words.
Except to say the FBI is completely corrupt.
And Sessions and Wray are not doing anything about it.
Maybe they are both corrupt too.
