Judge Samuel Feng repeatedly admonished prospective jurors not to consider the overriding political implications that made this a national story.(from a SF paper)

The judge reminded jurors how they should decide so as to send Trump a message is the translation.

So they cannot bring up the shooter’s past convictions or his deportations, but it is ok for the judge to repeatedly bring up Trump’s comments on the shooting. I am not a lawyer, but that surely seems odd to me.

The Chronicle reports that District Attorney Diana Garcia shared the same sentiments, as she told the jurors, "A lot of you are angry that this has been used to promote a political agenda that you do not agree with. I'm here to tell you that that will not be a part of the case."

Because reminding SF jurors that Trump would like a conviction was such a good idea!
