Matt Lauer breaks silence: ‘I am truly sorry’
NY Post ^ | 11/30/2017 | Yaron Steinbuch

A day after being fired by NBC, former “Today” host Matt Lauer on Thursday broke his silence on the mounting sexual misconduct allegations against him — saying some of the accusations are “untrue” but that he is “truly sorry” for the pain he has inflicted.

“There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions,” he said in a statement. “To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry.

“As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC.”

...

“I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly,” he continued. “Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job.

...

The entire statement was read aloud on Thursday’s “Today” show, where Savannah Guthrie was once again joined by Hoda Kotb, who also filled in for Lauer on Wednesday.

On the other hand, he’s now well-qualified for a Congressional seat.

If only he were a battlefield fabulist NBC would still find a role for him on cable, but having a trap door/rape button under your desk is probably a bridge too far.

Such contrition from these monsters, after they are caught. Otherwise, they’d be doing these evil deeds till they died.

Sorrow and remorse. Yep.

Miss Shields: Now I know that some of you put Flick up to this, but he has refused to say who. But those who did it know their blame, and I’m sure that the guilt you feel is far worse than any punishment you might receive. Now, don’t you feel terrible? Don’t you feel remorse for what you have done? Well, that’s all I’m going to say about poor Flick.

Ralphie: Adults loved to say things like that but kids knew better. We knew darn well it was always better not to get caught.

Lauer showed he’s got what it takes to hold a Congressional seat.

Maybe he should move to Detroit and run for Conyers’ seat?
