Matt Lauer allegedly sexually assaulted staffer during Olympics
New York Post ^ | 11/29/2017 | Emily Smith

Matt Lauer allegedly sexually assaulted a female NBC staffer during the Rio Olympics, sources told Page Six.

The staffer, who has not been named and wishes to remain anonymous, complained to NBC bosses yesterday, prompting NBC News bosses to move fast and fire him.

A source told Page Six, “An NBC staffer come forward with a claim that Matt sexually assaulted her at the Olympics.

There have been rumors about Matt having affairs with subordinates at NBC for years, but those were believed to be consensual. This incident in Rio was not.”

Another source tells us that the decision to fire Lauer was made late last night by NBC News chairman Andy Lack.

Lauer’s firing comes amid rumors that numerous news outlets were working on stories about the Today anchor alleged sexual misconduct.

How dense are you? All the insiders know who she is and the names of at least several others as well. Just because your favorite news source doesn’t print it doesn’t mean it isn’t known. Take a breath and count to ten.

According to NY Post, they had a knock-down drag-out divorce fight going but ultimately came to an ‘arrangement’ in which his wife and kids live in the Hamptons and he stays in the city. For better or worse, he may be paying them more visits now....

Rio, worst Olympics ever.

And let's not forget that it was Matt Lauer who did the Ryan Lochte interview.

I wonder if Bryant Gumbel (speaking of Today show hosts) would likely make Lauer look like an angel by comparison regarding treatment of women and I wonder if and when allegations involving him will come out?

See my post from another thread.

If other newspapers were about to report evidence of his misdeeds, it’s hard to believe that his cohosts weren’t aware of them also (or maybe they said they were unaware of his firing, not of his misdeeds).

We ordinary people probably can’t conceive of the massive egos of some public figures.

GFY. Secret accusations from anonymous accusers are the material of tyranny. I suppose that’s appropriate for NBC, but it’s not appropriate for America.

At the moment, I’m listening to WABC (770) in NYC & actually laughing out loud as they cover the Matt Lauer story.
Sid & Bernie show carried on iHeartRadio...

While I have no love at all for Matt Lauer, we do have this little thing called due process...there is absolutely no proof the allegations are true...just that they have been lodged. I guess that is all thats required. This is just not right. No matter who it happens to.

The possibilities:

1. Lauer's behavior has been known for some time; he has been on "probation;" he broke the rules again and management said that's it.

2. Lauer's behavior has been known for some time but NBC chose to ignore it as long as no woman came forward publicly and made a formal complaint. Once that happened, and given knowledge of his previous behavior, NBC decided that its hand was forced, especially in the current climate.

3. People had been turning a blind eye to extramarital affairs for years but thought they were consensual. This one wasn't, and the woman involved had irrefutable evidence. You say there is absolutely no proof the allegations are correct. I seriously doubt that. I expect the woman has something that made HR, the NBC lawyers, and top press utter a collective, "Oh, s*%!." There are lots of things that can get anyone summarily fired. That doesn't mean the company will make the reasons public.

4. There is some combination of all of the above, and when the woman came forward, Lauer may have manned up and confessed. He may be a miscreant, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a sense of shame. The loose end here is that he was fired rather than being given a chance to quietly resign.

The only process you are due from your employer is that they follow the HR policies and/or the terms of your contract. If not then you can take them to court for wrongful termination.

Or just type the code that it shows in the lower right hand corner of the picture of the character map. In the case of the ¢, you merely hold down the alt key while typing 0162.

Why is Savannah Guthrie “heartbroken” for Matt Lauer? PC til the end. He always banged a 10 on my sleaze-o-meter.

Yeh the left is happy to tolerate their own pervs. They are now forced to purge them so they can continue to point fingers.

You can also use the ALT-0162 key combination. You hold down ALT, then on your numeric keypad type 0162, then release the ALT key. It should print the cent symbol in whatever textbox you are using.

ALT-167 is the degree symbol: 350ºF
ALT-0167 is the section symbol: §
ALT-0162 is the cent sign: ¢

If you highlight a particular symbol, on the bottom right of the window it will tell you the ALT code.

I’ve noticed it only seems to work if you are typing the numbers on the numeric keypad. Using the normal number keys doesn’t work.
