1. It’s a different time now than when we dropped the bomb on Japan. Half of the country wouldn’t approve of a nuclear strike on North Korea even if they hit us first because either they would think we had it coming or they would still be worried about South Korean casualties if we attacked or they just hate Trump so much they would oppose anything he might want to do including retaliating against North Korea.

2. Trump may have a little cray-cray in him but the people he surrounds himself with would never advocate for a pre emotive strike against North Korea and ultimately he is the type that listens to the people around him when it comes to the big stuff.

It’s just common sense that sanctions won’t work for two big reasons.

1. Rocket man will never suffer himself for one second from the sanctions and he only cares about himself.

2. If you didn’t give in to the sanctions when you weren’t really close to your goal and chose to suffer instead why would you give in when you are at the 1 yard line ???

A revolt from within will never happen. He kills everyone family included he even remotely suspects is not loyal. No way they could organize a successful revolt under his nose without him finding out first.

There is no diplomatic solution. The only options are to either wipe him out first and just accept the fact there will be South Korean casualties or let him have nukes and just hope he can’t pull off a EMP or if he fires nukes at us that we can shoot them down.

If we were going to do the military option we would have done it by now. The longer we wait the harder it becomes so the decision must have already been made to let rocket man have his nukes and just to hope he doesn’t decide to use them.

I never understood this either. With a few minutes warning can’t many or most people take adequate cover? I understand this would still be deadly but not anywhere near a million.

Not to worry. In regard to the Norks, it would most likely be misguided.

However misguided their missiles might or might not be, NOrks have made frighteningly remarkable progress in the past year. We are no longer safe—not anywhere in US. Even if they hit a wheat field in North Dakota, I think that would have a substantial impact on the entire country.

For months and months, some people here have laughed at the prospect that North Korea could ever be a threat to US—blown it off and discounted the concern and warnings of some.

Sadly, there are are numerous threads of Freepers joking/ fantasizing what cities they would like Norks to hit here in US...cities like LA, Seattle, or San Fran...

NO more fantasizing...This is the new reality—they have the capability to hit anywhere...not limited to the West Coast, Hawaii or Alaska—sadly acceptable collateral damage to some.

There have been knowledgeable Freepers concerned all along. I hope they will take time to post their information and thoughts again.

It is time to get serious about understanding that Norks actually can hit any place in the world according to our own general, Mathis. Worse case if they are or can use submarine launchers which someone posted up thread.

IMHO, pressure needs to be brought to bear on our do-nothing pols to eliminate the threat as an offensive measure and to harden our grid as a defensive measure.

People in flyover country perhaps don’t realize the threat...that although the citizens’ bomb shelters have not been maintained and are likely in disrepair, the government has gone to great lengths to provide secure locations and provisions for our public “servants.” There are books and articles that document this. If SHTF, the government will survive, the citizens will not fare as well.

I think the citizens need to put pressure on Congress—no one else will—the media is preoccupied with sexual harassment, Pocahontas, and Pecan pies. Meanwhile, the Norks keep progressing :(

The man is insane, with delusions of grandeur.

Thanks, Secretary Albright. Hope you enjoyed that champagne.

He may be Kim Jung Un today, but if he ever gets on a battleship, he’ll be Kim Jung Cinq.

The sexual harassment stuff has been overplayed. Tired of hearing about it. Don’t care anymore. So all men are harassers. OK right. I’m being disrespected by some punk ass at work. But because it’s not “sexual” I can’t do anything about it. Am old enough to be his mother and been with the company much longer than him but since they promote people there regardless of their demeanor/personality he became the manager so now I get to be belittled, ignored when needing guidance, and treated with open disdain but simply have to deal with it because dude is now the manager. When he was a “mere” supervisor the F word flew out of his mouth 50+ times a day, which I don’t care to hear so often, but nobody gives a crap about things like professionalism, courtesy and respect anymore.

Please see my post 144; GMTA. Just couldn’t figure out how to post the pic, but it is in the link. ;)

I feel so bad for my children, that they are growing up in such a frightening time.

I am sure Melania and Donald feel the same about Barron; that is one reason, for sure, that he ran for president and subjected himself to such vitriol. And of course, his other grandchildren, and Tiffany, who is still pretty young.

Gosh, he has a big family. Christmas must be a lot of fun in the Trump household. :) An added plus: you don’t have to worry about a drunk Dad bringing things down. ;)

they would still be worried about South Korean casualties

Obviously, there's nuclear fallout concerns, but this, to me, is the biggest worry.

My best friend from high school's parents were from South Korea; I am going to get in touch with my friend today...I have been meaning to, so thank you for the reminder.

If North Korea ever used such a weapon on another country, North Korea would cease to exist.
