WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI failed to notify scores of U.S. officials that Russian hackers were trying to break into their personal Gmail accounts despite having evidence for at least a year that the targets were in the Kremlin's crosshairs, The Associated Press has found.
Nearly 80 interviews with Americans targeted by Fancy Bear, a Russian government-aligned cyberespionage group, turned up only two cases in which the FBI had provided a heads-up. Even senior policymakers discovered they were targets only when the AP told them, a situation some described as bizarre and dispiriting.
"It's utterly confounding," said Philip Reiner, a former senior director at the National Security Council, who was notified by the AP that he was targeted in 2015. "You've got to tell your people. You've got to protect your people."
The FBI declined to discuss its investigation into Fancy Bear's spying campaign, but did provide a statement that said in part: "The FBI routinely notifies individuals and organizations of potential threat information."

Was the FBI & CIA actually themselves working with Fancy Bear? What lies would they have to tell to explain how they knew some party was being hacked by Fancy Bear, and keep their own work with Fancy Bear secret? Just guessing that maybe it was not negligence but the FBI protecting its own sins.
I’m sure the FBI was CC’d in on everything and passed ut along to Hillary. Nothing else makes sense.
Russia....Russia.....Russia and the FBI. I think I trust the former more than the latter.

I had a similar thought - Was Fancy Bear somehow compromised and the FBI was tracking their activity hoping to use them as cover as the Bureau became privy to the hacked information.
As in, The FBI was not hacking Conservatives, but hacking Russians that were hacking Conservatives, and the Bureau had a right to review the evidence of the hacking.
Prudence would not allow the Bureau to reveal an on-going crimes in progress without compromising their case.
Such is the world of dealing with confidential sources that break laws as their daily work style.
Maybe the FBI wasn’t warning anyone because the Russians weren’t trying to hack anyone? Maybe the only hacking that went on was in Hitlery’s mind.
This seemed like the DNC’s failsafe should Hillary lose.

The CIA *was* Fancy Bear. The CIA masquerades as Russian hackers to cover their own tracks. They’re not going to tip anyone off, because they were the ones doing the hack.
so they run this smokescreen game because they know they are guilty and need to keep it covered up, but because they are at the top there is no-one to get them,

but I seem to remember a story (quickly--very quickly hushed up by the media) that the BOSTON MARATHON BOMBERS were known terrorists to the Russians, and that Russia had TRIED TO WARN TEAM OBAMA about them...but the arrogant pro-terrorist Obama administration basically IGNORED the warnings.

You'll see the gruesome handiwork of what the Muslim terrorists did to people just trying to have a good time in Boston.

The Democrats, and their media sycophants, pushed the narrative for decades that the Democrats were the ‘intelligent and educated’ party. This plays well in Cambridge and among those who consider themselves as the ‘thoughtful, informed and educated’. Of course, this characterization is ridiculous, but it has been a successfully perpetuated myth.
