IIRC the young Irving Kristol was part of the NYC Trotsky fan club that later morphed into neoconservatives.
I think his father was something like that but then became a leading Conservative writer and thinker.

Don’t know about his father, but his mother, Gertrude Himmelfarb WAS a pretty strong conservative AIUI. Billy went astray and has been faking HIS conservatism....sorta. We’ve all seen THROUGH it.
