This case will turn out to have been an accident, not an ambush, and certainly not having his head stove in with rocks other than colliding with them.
I have a tough time seeing two guys falling off the same bridge into a culvert and doing that much damage to their heads. Getting hit by a vehicle and tossed into the culvert, maybe.
