Rooster!
1. Other things can help with understanding the Word. Therefore, working through this series and some of Dr. Peterson’s other videos.
2. His material stretches and challenges in big ways, including just actually considering what the text itself says (Anon, avert your eyes if need be, but consider the reaction if you came to all the adult man in your clan, and told them that God just said that you are to circumcise them, and so you are personally going to do so . . .).
3. He titled these lectures as the “Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories.” So it would be off to evaluate them as something other than the application of psychology to scripture, and particularly to evaluate them only as to whether they are orthodox/bible-believing sermons. While it’s an interesting question as to how much he ducks revealing his true beliefs, that question seems unseemly unless one is as engaged in the sort of very public and dangerous battles that he is.
3. He grounds some of what he’s says in a multi-million year evolutionary view. While that’s not for everyone, who knew that rats laugh? Or that lobsters have a dominance hierarchy involving serotonin? Not me.
4. In any event, he is firmly on the side of western civilization:

Peace, and out for now.
Ok — 3, 4, 5 would have been better than 3, 3, 4.
Have some exchange students from overseas who are friends of my daughter coming tomorrow to celebrate what one said was “The Thanks Giving.”
And so hope that the giving of thanks goes well for all tomorrow.
