I am in the middle of this video but am sure that youse guys will find it fascinating.
So far, I would say this is right up there with Julian Jaynes and his The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind.
It is different than Jaynes work but it is nonetheless groundbreaking.
I’ll watch it!
That is a small part of his presentation so far...but it has profound significance for what is going on in America today.
Well, at least I did...but I am starting at the very bottom.;-)
I have regularly been outsmarted by cats, squirrels, and birds. But I have a really promising upside.
Thank you for posting this. I like Free Republic for the multi-faceted interests of fellow Freepers and the way they share concerns that go beyond electoral politics.
I have watched 10 minutes so far...
So far, it seems as though this guy is simply trying to figure out how man actually wrote this book. (presuming there is no God)
Just my impression so far.
Keep going.
I don't know this guy but I like the questions he asks...because I believe I know the answers.
He doesn't seem to realize that he is asking for God.
That said, I am not entirely finished with this video.
Well, his first giveaway was admitting he was a fan of Niche... (atheist philosopher)
His questions so far suggest to me that he is still an atheist, but not willing to ignore some obvious mysteries.
Even Nietzsche was unsure about this matter. He was only sure that the false adoption of a god was the answer.
Even Nitzsche's "God is Dead" isn't a statement the GOD Himself is dead but that man's creation of God is dead.
And it is and was.
God is much greater than the Catholic Church or the Protestant Reformation/Revolution.
He is pre-eminent.
The ultimate answer is that God is REAL.
This is from the text intro on the video:
“I describe what I consider to be the idea of God, which is at least partly the notion of sovereignty and power, divorced from any concrete sovereign or particular, individual person of power...”
*** He literally reduces the existence of God to an idea.
continuing from intro:
“ I also suggest that God, as Father, is something akin to the spirit or pattern inherent in the human hierarchy of authority, which is based in turn on the dominance hierarchies characterizing animals.”
*** So we believe in God much like animals generally adhere to a pack mentality which is ruled by an alpha male.
Wow.
>>> He may be an atheist, but he is still asking the right questions. The ultimate answer is that God is REAL.
Yeah... i guess that’s why this interests me.
The problem is that he is attempting to answer the questions from an atheist’s perspective. As long as he does this, he is spinning his wheels.
lol... ok check out this related video from him... he gets right to it here:

That doesn't mean that we should discard all the study of those who analyze this world but are not Godly.
First of all, we need to know our enemy.
Then we need to listen to all sources of information. This guy is digging into some great stuff. We who know God need to listen and incorporate the results of his work.
lol?
You must be kidding.
I have lost many friends to the dark side.
This isn’t lol territory.
Do you have a problem with that?
>>> lol? You must be kidding. I have lost many friends to the dark side. This isnt lol territory.
I lol-ed because in that video i linked, the guy refuses to be “boxed in” by answering whether or not he believes in God.
SORRY.. I find that amusingly insincere... and a cop out.
He is asking a lot of good questions, and admits that we DON’T KNOW a lot of things... but limits his sphere of possibilities to atheistic presumptions.
After all I said...thank you for your penetrating comments.
Much appreciated.
