Your plan A ain’t looking so good.
If the dems have their way plenty of republicans will be gerrymanded out of office in the next election.
The wrong kinds of democrats (as if there were any other kind) are being elected.
Hurst, whose fiance was the tv reporter shot while on location in Roanoke, defeated the incumbent Yost.*
A tranny beat a longtime conservative incumbent, the illegals have been invading for two decades, we have a pretty high muslim population.
Our incoming governor vowed to take down the monuments on Monument Avenue in Richmond.
*I look for sustained assaults on our Second Amendment rights soon.
I hate to say it but look more closely at plan B and develop plans C and D.
I am retired, my kids are grown and my wife has passed.
The only thing keeping me here is my mom. We are very close so I will stick with her till the end.
After that I’ll probably move on.
This ain’t the Old Dominion I knew.
I have noticed that you’ve all but confirmed what I’ve said.
Now run along, Mitch n Paul fanboy.

Is Virginia still a good state for conservatives to retire to////
I have to concur with the other Virginians on this thread.
In past elections, it was not unusual to see alternating party governors. But this is the first time in memory that the gov, lt gov, and AG all went democrat in 2 succeeding elections. Couple that with the massive gop losses in the house make it clear that VA has turned to the left.
Guys like Dave Brat might hold on for awhile but he’ll probably be gerrymandered out after 2020. Best you can hope for in the future is a RINO gov like they have in MD or MA.
Wife and I have a big house and acreage and need to make one more move. SC or the “red neck” Riviera are looking good now.
I was stationed here in 1992 and have since remained after my retirement. My wife can retire in two years and we are leaving.
Virginia is still a decent place to retire if you stay out of the liberal areas, and your intention of moving to Virginia Beach places you is a hotbed of leftism. I have always loved Virginia because it was very conservative even when run by Democrats but that is now changing. If we lose the House of Delegates then the only thing stopping our Second Amendment rights from being destroyed will be the Virginia Senate. Expect the current Va Attorney General, who is a Communist, to find ways to curb our rights. He was given tons of money from Bloomberg and Soros, who both are in collusion to fund and take over AG seats nation-wide.
Ouch! I thought Virginia Beach was conservative due to all the active duty and retired military. I was at a dinner party where 2 of the hosts liberal friends “warned” me that VB is “redneck”.
My alternate is Myrtle Beach but I am not crazy about MB. I dont think Myrtle Beach is conservative.
Well thanks for the warning. It is better to be informed. All I want is to be in a high rise condo on the beach with an ocean view, and not be surrounded by liberals. Most of the cities with high rise beachfront condos are at risk of severe hurricanes.
It is brutal being a conservative and trying to find a beachfront condo with view.
Well sounds like I am screwed then. DC has swallowd Vitginia. They should just give the northern counties to DC to be rid of them.
Where is the redneck riviera? Maybe that is for me...
Ugg. My timing is terrible.
Even my plan B is not serious. For 20 years I have been sold on retiring to Virginia.
Screwed agaoin. SOB!
Thanks for cliuing me in.
I am going to be depressed for a couple of weeks while I search out a new retirement destination.
I live the coast. I am not a rugged rural mountain guy. Montana and Idaho have no appeal for me. The commie libs have conquered all the good coastal areas.
Crap. I was born 30 years too late.
Alright, that souds true. Sucks but it is what it is. i knew DC was growing explosively, just had hoped folks were linving in Maryland, not Virginia.
I wish Trump would fire a million DC workers and let them move to California.
Son of a...
Redneck Riviera is the stretch of coast from MS through the FL panhandle.
You should think Tennessee, East Tennessee in particular.
Conservative, no income tax, good schools, any of several medium cities and lots of rural areas. Plus, a goodly number of Freepers.
Alas, no condos with an ocean view. However, there are lots of mountains and ridges where there are homes with fantastic views
The problem is leftists flock to those areas because of the laid back atmosphere then trash the place, like they do wherever they go.
Virginia Beach is beautiful but has been infested with those liberals. Also, during the Summer, the place is packed with tourists.
My small street in Stafford has only one civilian family. The rest of us are either Active Duty or retired. Every year in the Winter we all go down to a military post right by VB for Presidents Day weekend to relax and have fun. The place is nearly deserted and we get to do as we please without the crowds.
Timing is like location, it’s everything.
An awful lot has changed in 20 years.
The local country store that carried everything from bread to meat to fertilizer and nuts and bolts has been bought by a pakistani. Muslims are thick in NOVA, Hampton Roads and strangely around the military bases.
Went to the hospital before Christmas last year to see a relative. The crew putting up the Christmas decorations was all south americans..no habla English.
Lynchburg, the biggest town/city near me has lost so much population the two schools there have dropped their sports teams from AAA to AA. Everyone is moving to the counties and messing them up.
You know, if we could get enough Puerto Ricans to move to the mainland we could take The island over and turn it into a retirees paradise!
Just a thought.
That is pretty depressing.
On a selfish note, now I am back to square 1 looking for a retirement destination in the USA. Virginia Beach was perfect for what I was looking for.
So sad VA has gone commie lib.
Thanks. I hadn’t heard that before. I will have to consider that area. thanks for the recommendation.
I had eastern Tennessee on my short list before I committed to living on the beach. Now, I don’t know. I may have to reconsider it.
That was my understanding, I would have peace for about 7 months out of the year. From June to October all I would do is sit in an air conditioned house anyway, take some vacations to northern states. The tourists can have the summer heat and humidity. I wanted the spring and fall, and the reasonably mild beach winters.
Now my fun is ruined. I hate liberals so much. They are a scourge.
One other thing about the state of Virginia. It is now becoming a liberal State. When I arrived in 1992 it was mostly run by Democrats but they were truly more conservative. The firearms laws were rescinded and the state became a great place for the Second Amendment.
Now that Northam has won and the AG has won a second term they are probably going to try to do whatever they can to restrict our Second Amendment rights. The recounts aren’t over yet and if the Repubs do keep control of the House of Delegates I am predicting Northam will use the corrupt head of the VA State Police to do whatever they can to hurt firearms owners. The State AG will certainly start prosecutions for people who defend themselves if he can weasel his way into a court fight. They may not win in court but they will use the unlimited supply of tax money to bankrupt armed citizens and send a message.
My wife retires in three years and we already have a place in the woods of my home state of Michigan. That state has become red and is getting more conservative every day, and the winters keep out the riffraff.
