UC Berkeley professor Stuart Russell and the Future of Life Institute have created an eerie viral video titled "Slaughterbots" that depicts a future in which humans develop small, hand-sized drones that are programmed to identify and eliminate designated targets.
In the video above, the technology is initially developed with the intention of combating crime and terrorism, but the drones are taken over by an unknown forces who use the powerful weapons to murder a group of senators and college students. The video does contain some graphic content, and was originally uploaded to YouTube.
Russell, an expert on artificial intelligence, appears at the end of the video and warns against humanity's development of autonomous weapons.

Is it wrong that I was on the side of the slaughter bots when they went after the Senate?
I have no idea how much the Professor spent on his little AI device, but he seems to have created a very polished propaganda film. He’s very much an ideologue from Berkeley. He may also be a scientist.

Fear mongering with a propaganda film. It’s a play to control autonomous technology.
I worked with some very high retired government people (agency administrator level) fifteen years ago who were beginning research on autonomous swarms of UAVs and micro-UAVs. They were predicting this. At the time it seemed very far fetched, but quite real today.
That is one frightening film. I hadn’t considered a single-bullet micro-UAV targeting a specific individual and finding that target via the target’s online postings and myriad other electronic detritus and tell-tales. Very scary stuff.
Interesting prospect that the military identifies the threat is coming from universities and they dispatch micro-UAV swarms that kill over 8,000 university students, just to make sure they got the bad actors. Rather overkill, but sufficient to make sure they got all the bad guys.
It probably wouldn’t be hard for super-techies to adapt Apple’s new facial recognition system to such nefarious ends.
Easily faked. Drone can be set to intercept GPS position, and firecracker could have been set in the mannequin’s head
Oh yeh? How about dropping a nest of hornets from a drone on a BLM or Antifa march. What’s your counter for THAT! :-)
And restrict regular people from using it.
