The Alabama Republican Party this week signaled it remains firmly behind Moore.
The state party steering committee issued a statement that the allegations against Moore, which were first reported by The Washington Post, are false.
The committee stated it found these allegations to be lies, slander, deceit and the politics of personal destruction that have been used time and time again to destroy lives and win political campaigns.
Moores wife of more than three decades, Kayla Moore, declared at a press conference in Montgomery that her husband would not drop out of the race.
He will not step down. He will not stop fighting for the people of Alabama, she said.
She said the negative media coverage of Moore has come mostly from outside of the state.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) on Friday said she would vote for Moore despite the allegations. We need to have a Republican in the United States Senate to vote on things like the Supreme Court justices, other appointments the Senate has to confirm and make major decisions, she said.
One senior Republican senator on Thursday warned that voting to expel Moore would be a mistake, given that the voters of Alabama are already aware of the allegations against him.
Who are we to expel someone who is duly elected by the voters? It raises constitutional issues, the lawmaker said.

>Agree. Unbelievable that were hearing that kind of talk, on this forum.
I don’t think we’re hearing from real people. The left is paying for massive amounts of concern trolling on all social media for their causes.
“She says she wants to elect a Republican, but her inaction may very well elect a Democrat.”
So if she postpones, and thereby dumps Moore, do you think his voters will then go to Luther Strange?
In other words, the Democrats there will vote as a block for Jones...that’s a given. So, with Moore’s voters sitting out the election because their guy got shafted, just who is left to elect Strange...or even Brooks, should he get the nomination?
In other other words, you don’t win by eating your own. Even an idiot like Paul Ryan understood that 14 months ago when he realized that his master plan of denying Trump the nomination, and then replacing Trump with a more ‘mainstream’ Republican, like...Paul Ryan...was going to lead to even worse result in November for other Republicans, than simply letting Hillary clean Trump’s clock, but still having Trump’s voters show up and support down-ticket Republicans. (obviously the outcome a year ago was a bit different than predicted back then)
Maybe. But I wouldn’t put it passed them to have save a bombshell for the eve of the election. This is the set up, and (boom), someone accuses him of statutory rape. No time to respond, the media will hand wring about how many accusation there are, how damaged he is, etc. The goal is to get voters to stay home. I am, of course, purely speculating, but I wouldn’t be so sure that their gambit is over.
Grown men that go after young girls do not stop doing this. If the accusations were true there would be recent occurrences of this. These accusations are very very old. I do not believe they are true.
Problem is, the election isn't until Dec.
Fools should have sprung the Nov surprise instead.
LOL
Trump has forever changed the way political races are run and how they can be won. The media has lost almost all the power they had to influence races and are no longer trusted by large majorities of the public.
