"Rape Culture" is another example of how repeating a PC buzzword or phrase over and over again gives it a life of its own, no matter how meaningless it is.
Rape certainly exists. So does armed robbery, breaking and entering, and manslaughter. However, if some "academic" went around talking about how America has an "armed robbery culture," he'd be considered strange, to say the least. For something to define a "culture," a majority or at least a sizeable minority of people must engage in and approve of the behavior. I don't know a single person who approves of rape. Even in prison, rapists are generally held in very low regard, barely a rung above child molesters. But as usual, leftists, especially feminists, aren't the sort to let facts get in the way of a good rallying cry (and a hypocritical one at that, as this story illustrates).
Good point. If you read Scott Adams’ explanation of Trump’s tweets “talking past the sale,” you’ll realize that’s exactly what she did here.
“I’m a feminist and the author of a book on rape culture (the sale) and I don’t think Al Franken should resign.” (To focus on the Franken issue, you first implicitly, without even realizing it, accept the sale.)
To your credit, you didn’t.
