Several long-shot options under consideration in wake of Moore allegations.
Republican leaders are exploring a dramatic remedy to salvage the Alabama Senate seat as fresh polling shows Roy Moore’s prospects fading fast.
With less than four weeks until the special election and no sign that the party’s besieged nominee will exit the race, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his top advisers are discussing the legal feasibility of asking appointed Sen. Luther Strange to resign from his seat in order to trigger a new special election.
McConnell aides express caution, saying they’re uncertain whether such a move, one of several options being discussed, is even possible. Yet the talks underscore the despair among top Republicans over relinquishing a seat in deep-red Alabama, further diminishing their slim Senate majority.

Nothing wrong with Roy Moore except he is an outsider.
The GOPe wants to lose the seat.
They are concerned that Moore might win. That would benefit President Trump and so the GOP is scrambling for a way to lose.

Just heard on the news, Ala gov said there will not be new elections.
Can the gov just say there won’t be new elections? Is that in his purview?

The governor sets the date for special elections per Alabama law.

The GOPe is just not as good as the RATs at fixing an election. This would never have happened if the RATs were interested in “a candidate change.”
This is the uniparty politicians in the DC swamp telling you polls who they will allow into their inner sanctum.
Or to put it blunt terms, this the DC establishment telling the people of Alabama to FOAD, because your chosen candidate will not be allowed to serve as YOUR elected senator.
Only DC uniparty approved individuals are allowed to join the swamp party.
Unless you elect the second coming of songbird mccain, or the twin brother of the kentucky fried post turtle, the uniparty hacks will throw their support to whatever leftist POS dem opposition there is.
