1970’s: “We don’t want to ban any rifles, we just want to ban pistols.”
1980: “We don’t want to ban all pistols, just the cheap ones.”
1993: “Sorry about what we said in 1964, we’ll be checking the little piece of paper after all.”
1994: “Sorry about what we said in the 1970’s, we will be banning certain rifles after all. But you can still have semiautomatics in general.”
2000’s: “Sorry about what we said in 1994 and 1980. We really do want to ban all semiautos and pistols. But don’t worry, we’ll never want to confiscate, and you can always have a muzzle loader.”
2017: “Sorry about what we said in the 2000’s, we do want to confiscate, and you cannot have a muzzle loader.”
