Trump's cheeseburger draws a crowd at Tokyo restaurant

Yutaka Yanagisawa, the owner of a Tokyo burger joint, said his restaurant has been inundated with hungry customers who want to eat the same cheeseburger that President Trump had during his visit to Japan last week.

One diner, pastry chef Haruyuki Sano, said he agrees with Trump's ideology of putting one's own country first, and traveled an hour and a half to have the same 100 percent U.S. Angus beef Colby Jack Cheeseburger that Trump ordered.

“It tasted great, like steak,” Sano told an Associated Press reporter at Munch’s Burger Shack on Thursday.

The meal, deemed the "President Trump set," is a new addition to the restaurant's menu and has become one of its most popular orders, Yanagisawa said.

For 1,400 yen, about $12, a customer will get a cheeseburger, a side of fries and coleslaw. The burger is served with lettuce, tomato, and melted cheese in between warmed buns.

Yanagisawa said he was randomly notified by the Japanese foreign ministry about their interest in having him cook for Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during their golf outing at the Kasumi Country Club on Nov. 5.

He was responsible for cooking 20 meals in the country club's kitchen. Trump ordered his burger well done.

After the meal, Trump told Yanagisawa his meal had been "very good, very good."

“I felt so honored,” the chef said. He added that he was only able to get out "thank you" in the heat of the moment.

Obama had a 400 dollar sushi meal IIRC (Want to guess who paid for it?). President Trump has a cheeseburger.

Utterly brilliant symbolism and messaging

And some dang good American beef.

Wish folks in this country could do that at the grocery store. Now, thanks to repeal of country of origin labeling, we get mystery meat.

Note to the POTUS: Sir, I’d like to buy American beef, too.

President Trump reminds me of my late father. Old WW II military guy, knew what he liked and wanted no frills. He ate his steaks and burgers burnt to a crisp, poured ketchup over everything, never would touch anything but “meat and potatoes” type American food (pot roast, meatloaf, fried chicken etc.) He even considered called tacos and spaghetti “foreign crap” and wouldn’t touch them...

Buy at the farm and have them deliver to the butcher. You know what you get. Some rural butchers will sell a side or quarter thru their own arrangements with local farmers. My favorite: corn fed Charolais. Love the marbling on the steaks.

When our company has some Japanese reps fly in and then for the company dinners they choose the restaurants serving red meat entrees.

For 1,400 yen, about $12,
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I know, dinosaur, older than dirt etc BUT I remember when one could have a decent liberty in Yokosuka Japan for 1400 yen.
(And a GREAT one for 12 bucks..approx 4300 yen)

AND

cover all 3 ‘food’ groups or what a typical sailor was looking for on an average liberty

AND

Have enough for cab fare back to the ship where the cigarettes were 90 cents for a carton..

This can’t be true,

Democrats, Republican leaders, the MSM, why it seems almost universal by what I read in the media, Trump is thought of as a boorish buffoon around the planet.

Nobody would go out of their way to enjoy a meal, just because he ate it a few days ago.

/s

People aren’t plating along with the Never Trump script.

I’m lucky enough to be able to buy local.

Since I like my hamburger *VERY* rare, I grind my own from chuck pretty often.

We used to have a local butcher shop. It closed. I’m going to have to scare up a supplier. Talked to the folks at the local meat counter at the grocer, and the person I spoke with flat out refused to tell me where their beef came from.

Although I enjoyed your story I feel the need to ask the obvious question...

Was your dad a native American?

The Japanese people are big time into fads that last about 15 minutes. Then they’re off to the next one.
