Shep Smith Breaks From Fox News Coverage, Tears ‘Uranium One’ Scandal To Shreds
Huffington Post ^ | 11/14/2017 | Alana Horowitz Satlin

Fox News anchor Shep Smith broke from his network’s hyperventilating coverage of the “Uranium One” pseudoscandal to debunk allegations of wrongdoings by Hillary Clinton.

Smith, never one to blindly toe the party line, took to task President Donald Trump ― and, implicitly, his cable news network of choice ― over the “inaccurate” portrayal of the sale of a Canadian mining company with major U.S. holdings to a Russian company.

“Here’s the accusation,” Smith explained Tuesday. “Nine people involved in the deal made donations to the Clinton Foundation totaling more than $140 million. In exchange, Secretary of State Clinton approved the sale to the Russians — a quid pro quo.”

It’s a claim that has dominated Fox News in recent weeks after The Hill published a deeply flawed report about a “Russian bribery plot” involving the sale. Following pressure from the president and several Republican members of Congress, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced earlier this week that the Justice Department would consider appointing a special counsel to review the deal as well as other matters involving Clinton and other Democrats.

There’s never been any evidence that Clinton acted inappropriately and, as Smith notes, “the Clinton State Department had no power to approve or veto that transaction. It could do neither.” Indeed, the State Department was just one of nine agencies that signed off on the deal and Clinton herself wasn’t even on the committee.

“The accusation is predicated on the charge that Secretary Clinton approved the sale,” Smith said. “She did not. A committee of nine evaluated the sale, the president approved the sale, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and others had to offer permits, and none of the uranium was exported for use by the U.S. to Russia. That is Uranium One.”

OK -here goes:

There’s never been any evidence that Clinton acted inappropriately.....

That's because it hasn't been investigated yet. Finally, it looks like we will get an investigation.

Indeed, the State Department was just one of nine agencies that signed off on the deal and Clinton herself wasn’t even on the committee.

These 9 agencies were stacked with Obama appointees. State may have signed off but they would need approval by senior personnel- all of whom were appointed by Hillary as she ran the department.

...and none of the uranium was exported for use by the U.S. to Russia. That is Uranium One.

It went to Canadian Company that is now under Russian control.

Other questions Shep did not address:

What about the 140 Million donations to the Clinton Foundation?

What about the 500K speaking for Bill right after this was approved?

Since we are an IMPORTER of Uranium that means we can't produce enough for our needs. With that in mind, why did we sell what little we produced?

I am not going to personally insult Shep, the author of this piece or HuffPo though I know that what we do best around here (Anything but read the article!) Still, these are DNC talking points that will be spewed out a week from tomorrow at Thanksgiving dinners. Trump's biggest failing so far is not investigating this and/or Hillary's e-mails. Blame Sessions all you want but at the end of the day Trump is in charge and the burden lies on him to bring justice to those who violated the law.

Shepherd shows his ignorance of how things get pay to play in the federal leviathon. We need to see evidence and witness testimony. Not a news anchor’s version off a script.

So Clinton was powerless to direct her State Department representative on the committee to vote Yes or No??? Is that it???

the president approved the sale

So in other words, Obama is the one to be investigated, right???

I see what you do, Shep!

Actually, Hillary was in a position to direct the State Department to veto the deal. Shep is being a weasel here.

When the 5 began, they said it was equal spokesperson.. equal name recognition... but dana perino thinks she is the matriarch of the show. The other 4 give way to dana.. they do not step on her words nor interrupt her like they do each other 4. I find her intolerably walking the fence .. she will not compliment conservatives and she praises the establishment politicians. She has an air about her .. one of superiority and smugness that she knows everything... since she worked under GW.. which lately shows the same establishment elitism... which I have no use for!

Fox was in Ft Meyers FL this morning in a restaurant taking the pulse of the people. A spontaneous “how many support Trump” and looked like the whole place raised hands. They know who is the establishment and who is for the people.

Forgot to add my 2 cents on shep... he is a person who puts a higher value on himself and what he thinks he knows.. than he is worth. I figure brit hume is the reason shep is still there.. If he’s on when I check Fox.. it goes off. Same for Brit .. and same for Bret since he took to hating our President.

They do not know or numbers out here.. or what we think about what they say.

Also, the Clinton Global Initiative’s donations dropped over 90% once she left office...so what does that tell the average human with a brain?

Smith, never one to blindly toe the party line,

I think he toes the Democrat line pretty consistently, myself.

If she did nothing wrong, then she should have nothing to hide from investigators, right?

Shep Smith Breaks From Fox News Coverage, Tears ‘Uranium One’ Scandal To Shreds

I see no such thing.

Hillary is the master of duplicity and criminal behavior disguised as harmless "normal routine' bureaucratic processing.

The Fox resident "eyeshadow" pervert evidently has never heard of money/favors laundering of hundreds of $millions collected by the "tax-free" Clinton Charitable Foundation.

How did the Criminal Clintons (all of them) manage to spend over a $1,000,000,000, on her phony failed presidential glass ceiling first female presidential campaign?

Did any individuals from the other 8 Federal agencies enrich themselves similarly? Did Hillary have to "sign off" on the U.S. Uranium to a Canadian Firm who laundered the the deal that ended up with Russia getting the Uranium and the Clintons becoming multimillioaires?

C'mon, Fox lipstick boy, let's get real...

Even if it weren’t a racket, its existence during her term in office created “the appearance of impropriety”. As a lawyer, Clinton knows damn well that ethics demands avoiding even the appearance of impropriety. She just doesn’t care because she thinks she is above ethics, and above the law.

Before we even get to the whole donations and quid pro quo issue, let’s start by asking why the hell the Democrats approved selling 1/5th of our uranium supply to Russia.

Isn’t Russia the root of all evil? That’s what the Democrats keep saying...

So she had to grease some skids. The other eight should be investigated too. I bet they live in very nice mansions on civil servant salaries. We already know Comey got some Clinton Foundation money, there would be others in on the deal.

The whole media line about 9 agencies involvement and Hillary being out of the loop is total BS and very devious misdirection

As Secretary of State, Hillary was the primary arbiter of the deal and she held veto power that could only be over ruled by President Obama

Hillary was paid to stay out of the deal publicly and not use her veto power to derail the deal.

Behind the scenes she was pushing all concerned.

When you get close to 200 million off a pay to play scheme, you really don't want to leave your fingerprints

“the State Department was just one of nine agencies that signed off on the deal and Clinton herself wasn’t even on the committee.”

The Clinton Foundation received more than $140 million that we know about. Who knows what the other parties received or why they signed off.

What Shep is saying is because there were other corrupt people in the Obama administration then Clinton must be innocent.

That is like Shep saying if I and 8 of my pervert friends anally gang rape a young boy then I must be innocent because 8 other people did it too.
