The Real Culprit Behind North Korea's Missile Threat May Be Vladimir Putin
The Hudson Institute ^ | 9/19/2017 | Arthur Herman

Posted on 11/14/2017 9:47:07 AM PST by GoldenState_Rose

In their 2014 book North Korea: The Politics of Regime Survival, Young Whan Kihl and Hong Nack Kim noted that “some restricted arm and weapons material have reached North Korea from Russia. . . . Russian companies have been among the suppliers of North Korea’s nuclear program.” Now Putin may be covertly supplying its missile program as well.

The key question is why Putin would exacerbate an already crisis-level situation on the Korean peninsula. The answer may be the same as to why Putin has embroiled Russia in Syria: as a way to disrupt and distract the West, especially the United States, and to make Kim Jong-un a Putin client like Syria’s Assad, a dictator who becomes completely dependent on Moscow for his regional status, even his survival, and will do Moscow’s bidding.

Putin may have provided missile and nuclear weapons tech to North Korea so Kim could forward weapons to Iran to threaten the Saudis in the proxy war Russia was waging with the Saudis at the time over oil production

The Saudis lost big in that little adventure and are having big problems. The Saudis did are cleaning house on responsible parties and all sides are scrambling to deal with the fallout

Russian weapon technology transfer to North Korea and Iran is the biggest problem we have to deal with

And by contrast, what do you think the facts are then? Honestly after coming back from Russia and dealing with idiocy of people here I wish we had some exchange program where the amazing young Russians whose intellectual potential is being crushed by the regime could get US visas and green cards and all the Putin cheerleaders here be sent over there and find employment to play dress-up for his latest monthly military parade festivities.

Or fatboy just wants money, and this same ploy worked repeatedly for previous Korean despots.

But why go inserting the historical record into the analysis.

The current state of affairs with North Korea making shril and aggressive threats against us benefits Russia far more than it does China.

Of course the Russians are behind the threats. NK and Iran are their pawns. Putin's in the process of restoring the evil empire, and then-some.

Russia and North Korea declare 2015 a ‘year of friendship’

“The biggest cause for concern is the growing military alliance between Russia and North Korea, with the two regimes recently announcing plans to conduct a series of joint army, navy and air force exercises this year.”

Russia steps up North Korea support to constrain US

May 17, 2017

“Despite efforts by the United Nations to impose isolating sanctions on North Korea in response to the country’s continued development of nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles, trade between Russia and North Korea soared more than 85 percent in the first four months of the year.”

North Korea nuclear crisis: Putin calls sanctions useless

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said pursuing further sanctions against North Korea is “useless”, saying “they’d rather eat grass than give up their nuclear programme”.

The US said on Monday it would table a new UN resolution on tougher sanctions in the wake of the latest test of a nuclear bomb by the North on Sunday.

Mr Putin also said that the ramping up of “military hysteria” could lead to global catastrophe.

He said diplomacy was the only answer.

China, the North’s main ally, has also called for a return to negotiations. ...”

Well yeah. I don’t even need to read this article. Either Russia or China or both have every strategic reason to use N.Korea to troll the U.S. Derp. We go to war to de-nuke them and they get to make us into the bad guys, and turn up some geopolitical heat. It’s a dangerous course to take but it keeps them from looking like the bad guys or at least not the aggressor if the excrement hits the proverbial fan. Kim is just a pawn like the previous Kims were. All according to plan

I didn’t write or post the article. Facts are the responsibility of the writer, not the readers.

Russia Gate does a disservice to our policy-making precisely because it distracts from the ACTUAL threat(s) Russia poses rather than the stupid liberal media conspiracies about the election results.

Everything from engines to guidence and the nukes atop the missiles was made in Ukraine at one time. Forget the fact that the oligarch who owns the factory where the engines are made can't account for several dozen engines and the fact that the Ukraine has never accounted for all the nukes it had when it became independent and promised to destroy all of the warheads it had.

Nope, it's not openly corrupt Ukraine oligarchs who are into everything from organ harvesting to the heroin trade, it has to be Russia taking engines it no longer uses and never made outside of Ukraine because Hillary says it's the Russians.

Ukraine and Russia both have the same system ills...and quite a few Ukrainian oligarchs are loyal to Russia or in their sphere of influence.

Don’t get me wrong, Poroshenko is no saint — but it’s precisely because places like Ukraine are “lost” to Western orbit that Putin is extra aggressive about maintaining his grip on Syria and NoKo.

What if everything you have been told, in your life, is a lie?

Why hasn’t Switzerland ever been attacked?

What is thier history?

Who guards the “Holy See”?

Who guards the DMZ?

Who are the Rothchilds?

What is the connection to the Queen?

What is thier connection to the Vatican?

Who owns the Federal Reserve Bank?

Be prepared. Open your eyes. Pray!

Putin’s not been the aggressor on the World Stage...we have been....We have 1,400 US bases throughout the world in over 120 countries/states. No other country welds that military power.....

Hey if our ONLY warm water port was being threatened we’d have our pants in a knot too...if Putin had missiles in Cuba we know from History our pants would be in a knot. He’s doing the same thing we do in protecting his borders.....we just don’t like how he’s doing it.....but it’s ok for us to blow up cities....or take down leaders....Libya, Serbia, Egypt, Iraq Apfghanistan......etc etc.

I am not Dick Cheney. You don’t need to lecture me. Just know that Putin does not have some moral high ground simply because he’s jealous of America’s capacity for aggression.
