Yes, it was all about the ships sitting there and their poor family members being ‘left to die’. It was such a glaring example of the damage the lyin’ media creates.

One of the fears I have is that the US has placed itself in a position of being the world’s benefactor and savior. Over the years of our meddling in foreign problems that should have nothing to do with us has given our fellow species the opinion and invitation that they can get themselves in deep $hit and we will have the length of rope to pull then out. And as the conflicts get bigger and more modern, we are losing ground. But now we are trapped into aiding the call from almost anyone.

We stepped into so many situations we could have remained out of there are too many to name just since 1900.

I’m not sure if you knew some of them, but here’s a good listing:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_military_operations#1900.E2.80.931909

Amazing isn’t it. And so we not only are expected to help, but totally bail whoever out of their problems with no effort or appreciation at all from the effected.

Meantime the media eats this up and barfs it back to clobber the conservative in charge whether he/she earned it or not, or even if it happened or not.

So until the media is forced to report rather than make it up, it will continue and the taxpayers won’t get their money’s worth.

So, here is my suggestion:

The first amendment is used with great regularity by the press for the freedom of speech with a right to retract if they are wrong, normally on page 114. Well, don’t let them be wrong. If they print something about someone that is a lie and is damaging, they can be sued and nailed. Happens all the time. Freedom of speech doesn’t allow them to harm someone.

I would like to see congress create a committee designed to evaluate questionable news “opinions” and present evidence to the federal AG’s office for review. If they are founded, an investigation would ensue and if discovered, people go to jail from the media. They have the right to say what they want, but they also have the responsibility not to harm people through foolish means or just plain lies, which they will have to justify.

Every time I get into a car and enter the roadway, I am responsible for the many on the roadways I interact with. So why shouldn’t the media be held responsible for the proper handling of news that can harm others by their irresponsibility. I can go to jail. So should they.
