When Big Jim Thompson was running v. Adlai Stevenson for Gov. of Illinois in the early 80’s, the subject of Adlai being a wimp came up.
Thompson, from that point on, brilliantly went around the state claiming every chance he could, “I never called adlai a wimp”.
