One of Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore's most prominent backers pulled his support Friday evening in the wake of sexual assault allegations against the former state Supreme Court chief justice.
Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, posted on Twitter that "having read the detailed description of the incidents, as well as the response from Judge Moore and his campaign, I can no longer endorse his candidacy for the U.S. Senate."

Judge Moore graduates West Point, goes to Vietnam, completes his Army service, attends law school, and begins practicing law. At that point, he is in his early 30s and ready to find a mate. In the late 70s, women are still marrying in their teens or early 20s, particularly in the South (where I’m from). Women his age are already married with families. The pool of available, child-bearing age women are young. When Judge Moore does marry in 1985, he is 38, his wife Kyla is 24.
The now 53 y/o woman who claims Judge Moore molested her at 14 is from a broken home, thrice divorced, attempted suicide at 16, and has had financial and legal problems. Also reports she has made similar allegations against other men. She is not believable.
The three other women that the Washington Compost dug up were at the age of consent when (or if) they encountered Judge Moore.
Older men marrying younger women is/was common in the South. Female relatives in my family, including my mother, married in their teens to older men and became housewives, mothers to healthy children, and the backbone of their families. My father and mother, both from Gadsden, Alabama, Judge Moore’s hometown, met when he was 16 and she was 9. They lived two houses apart, and my maternal grandmother asked my father to tutor my mother in math. My father completed high school, graduated college, fought in WWII, and returned to marry my mother shortly after her 18th birthday. He was 24 and a very young Army major (battlefield promotions). They wanted to marry when my mother was 16, but decided to wait until after my father’s return from war was ensured. Like Judge Moore & Kyla, they raised four children to honorable adulthood, and after 66+ years of marriage and a passel of grandchildren & great grandchildren, they rest together at Arlington cemetery.
Bottom line: Judge Moore has done nothing wrong.

Lee was fighting Trump at the convention trying to overthrow the election right up to the last minute. Guy is a total fraud. Tea Party my azz.....he’s just like the liar from NH former fake Tea Party senator Kelly Ayotte.

On election night last year, my husband said, “No one should think this is a victory for Republicans because the establishment will find a way to ruin even a complete majority, like this, maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity to correct so many things wrong in the country. They will blow it.” Those were prophetic words. Have totally lost
confidence. Most of them must have some big skeletons in their closet, blackmail level skeletons. It is the only thing which makes sense.

Thank you for posting this very insightful and informative piece. It seems to me the accomplishments of Judge Moore are vastly superior to the ilk we have serving in the Congress right now. From everything I have read, this accuser may have some problems. Has she been offered big money? Does anyone know? She needs to be investigated concerning the other accusations, as well. It would not be hard to find out what her reputation is in Alabama. This looks so like dirty politics to me. One can almost smell the swamp slime in this one.
Thanks. What a concept, men marrying only after they are established with a career and an income sufficient to support a wife and family. And that typically means looking for a younger spouse who can bear healthy children. Mutually beneficial for the entire family. My mother bore all four of her children before she turned 26. With women (and men) now delaying marriage, the birth defect rate has doubled in the this country...unsurprising.

We know that if Moore was a true baby killer or child abuser like the Democrats and leftist Republicans who keep funding Planned Parenthood, they would LOVE Moore.
They hate Moore because he is pro-life, pro-family, and pro-Constitution.
When Washington Post trots out these nasty lies, they are calling every decent patriot a child molester.
But the people who have no conscience about killing babies and selling their body parts are the ones trafficking in children, prostituting them, and killing them.
These demons always accuse others of doing the things they are devoted to doing themselves.

I respect Mike Lee, but has he said anything about wanting Menendez to step down due to his trial and allegations?
This is what I call the Menendez test: suitable for all GOP and Dems who are currently critical of Roy Moore.
(And yes, I would like Menendez to resign, even though he would be replaced by another Dem.)
