Yeah, I am an Angel fan. I actually e our divison rival in this series, because I hate the city of Los Angeles and much of the Dodgers fan base has been taken over by cholo thugs. The Oakland A’s have problem. Its a shame, although we were always Angels fans, I didnt mind the Dodgers growing up (the Garvey, Lopes, Russell, Cey years). But LA wasnt as horrible in those days. Now its a cesspool of illegals and cholos. Now I hold the teams fanbase against them.

Hats off to the Astros organization. Its a mostly homegrown team. You dont see that too much these days.

The Astros let the air out of the Dodgers' balloon very early tonight. You could feel the energy draining out of the stadium in the second inning. Kershaw kind of redeemed his bad outing with some nice middle-inning relief work, but when your ace has to be brought in to pitch the middle innings, it's because your starter got chased early in Game 7. Yu Darvish came up small again.

So much talent on the Astros - that team is going to be around for a while. Congrats to Houston.

I’ve been a fan of the Astros since watching them at the opening of the Astrodome.

Finally, it is the “year of the Astros”.

And Hoston just won me a bottle of 12-year old single malt. I was a Dodger fan for years and learned my lesson that the Dodgers always choke. So I best against them with my friends.

Just curious. Why did the Dodgers start Yu Darvish instead of Alex Wood? Wood had a much better season record. He also was very good in Game 4, while Darvish was horrible in Game 2. Wood had 3 days of rest. That is more than Kershaw had when Kershaw came in for relief. Even before the game started, I thought that the Dodgers were sort of cheating Wood, in addition to being dumb for not starting him.

Why does this feel like a political win for the good guys?

Anyway, congrats to Houston!!

I’m always happy to see the Dodgers lose.

Maybe next time - if there is one - Dodgers’ closer Kenley Jansen will check himself before spouting off about an opponent having “no chance” in Game 7.

Wood had a great year but a mediocre history. Darvish is a former All-Star who had been in pressure games before. Turned out he wasn't good in Game 3 and wasn't good again in Game 7.

Same question could be asked of Brad Peacock who was 13-2 and had a better year than either McCullers or Morton. In both cases, the manager went with the one who had playoff experience.

With Houston’s first World Series championship, this leaves the list of the oldest modern expansion teams to yet win their first championship:

MLB-1960-Washington Senators/Texas Rangers
1969-Seattle Pilots/Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, and Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals

NFL-1960-Minnesota Vikings
1966-Atlanta Falcons
1967-Cincinnati Bengals

NHL-1967-St Louis Blues
1970-Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres

NBA-1967-Denver Nuggets (year they joined ABA)
1968-Phoenix Suns
1970-Buffalo Braves/San Diego/Los Angeles Clippers

Note: The longest turnpike for a team to win their first ever championship still belongs to the Philadelphia Phillies who won their first World Series (Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt, Tug McGraw et al against the Kansas City Royals) in 1980. This was 97 years after the Phillies first joined the National League in 1883 and 77 years after the World Series between the National and American Leagues was first created in 1903. The Phillies had made only two previous World Series appearances in 1915 (against Boston Red Sox) and in 1950 (The Whiz Kids against the New York Yankees).

They picked that correctly, and the player they picked for the cover was the World Series MVP. couldn’t have done better.

(Unless they had used a picture not involving the “rainbow” uniforms.)

Yes, she did a wonderful job soloing on Tuesday night.

I also noticed the contrast between the NFL protesting "police brutality" while MLB was using police officers in both cities to sing the national anthem.
