Wicker Caught Between A Poor Voting Record And His Allegiance To McConnell
mississippipep.com ^ | 10/31/17 | Keith Plunkett

Mississippi U.S. Senator Roger Wicker continues his effort to get as much distance as possible from his abysmal voting record by attaching himself to President Donald Trump and distancing himself from Mitch McConnell. Meanwhile, Wicker’s campaign surrogates in the state, who have repeatedly attacked Mississippi conservatives, are struggling to find footing as talk of a primary challenge from Senator Chris McDaniel ramps up.

Wicker’s effort to reinvent himself in time for campaign season is looking more and more like a case of ‘too little too late’.

Focusing on isolating the votes of their favored candidates in order to spin their full-record has been a favorite tactic of the political operatives of the GOP for years. But even more isolating to the old-guard has been paying lip-service to coalition building and aiding campaigns with technology. Meanwhile, conservatives have used both to fight past political smears from opposition. Relying on the cocky reassurances of their own cleverness, the political establishment has refused to modernize how they go about governing or communicating their message to the public. They instead have become adept at smear campaigns and the type of political pandering we see now from Senator Wicker.

Wicker's voting record is abysmal when compared to conservatives. Wicker and Cochran both are RINOs and puppets of the left. Wicker used to have some conservative values until he became one of the insiders.

Wicker needs to be repealed and replaced.

Yep - I’ve sent “missives” to Wicker, Cochran and Palazzo - Wicker returns the “Blah blah blah” form letters and Cochran’s diaper changer does that for him.......Palazzo actually engages.

I looked at the article, but I could see nothing concrete about Wicker’s voting record.

What are his liftime and recent ADA percentages? Ditto for his ACU percentages? The article has not even a hint about such critical info.

In other words, it seems to me that we have yet another click-bait headline for an article that fails completely to deliver.

ACU ratings for Wicker: 84.59% lifetime (85% is considered baseline Conservative), 75% in 2015 and 72% in 2016, both subpar.

We shall see. Wicker is just meh as a Senator, and he’s been in Congress since 1994, so it’s time for some new blood.

You did the work that the lazy author of the article couldn’t be bothered to handle. Congrats!

Anyway, those ratings could be fatal. I guess Wicker has voted to give too much federal aid to Mississippi.

Still, I wonder if McDaniel can get elected by running against pork for the home folks?

The downside to representing a poor state, the need for more $$ largesse. Now that MS is a GOP state from top to bottom, it should work on becoming as business friendly a place as possible to bring in more jobs (the state’s rep was also damaged because of the insane situation with lawsuits, which necessitated tort reform).

Not so easy when TN keeps stealing our best political talent.

How about sending Marsha B. back to us?

I forgot she was from Mississippi. I think she’s been in TN now for 40 years. It’s funny, all three of our Presidents from TN were all “out of staters” born in the Carolinas. Even “The King”, who considered himself a Memphian, was of course from Tupelo. He probably would’ve become a GOP Governor up here had he kicked his bad habits. Our first modern-era GOP Governor (Dr. Winfield Dunn) was born and raised in Mississippi, too (his father was a one-term MS Congressman in the ‘30s).
