The language in the indictment is "conspiracy to DEFRAUD the United States" ... but this is too benign, so the media is reporting "conspiracy against the United States".

As I review my RSS feeds, the headlines on BBC, NYT, and Reuters are fair because they specify the nature of the charges correctly. But there are many other cases of faux journalists grabbing the "conspiracy" football and running downfield with it, with grossly oversimplified headlines and misleading ledes.
