The Nigel Farage Show On Sunday: Catalonia Independence

(Nigel Farage 5:15)

"The European Union who were studiously quiet after all the police brutality a few weeks ago...."

(Journalist James Babcock 5:28)

..."the main leaders of the European Union with exceptions such as Belgium have rallied around the Spanish government. We saw that in the summit last weekend. We heard Mr. Macron, we heard Merkel and the Commission President all saying basically that they support Spain, they support the Spanish constitution, the constitutional order in Spain."

(Nigel Farage)

...That was Theresa May's position, too, wasn't it?

(James Babcock)

Yes....They're treating this as an internal matter....

(Nigel Farage 6:15)

...Well, they're very good James at criticizing the Hungarian government and criticizing the Polish government and often criticizing the British government, but the Spanish government it would seem could do no wrong.....

....That's what the government is saying, that they are using necessary force as they have over the last few weeks, they're enforcing the rule of law and Carles Puigdemont, the president of Catalonia you know could you very well finish up in prison on effectively treason charges.

I have to say when you hear there's a leader of a nationalist, separatist movement in southern Europe you sort of conjure up this figure as some sort of fiery, noisy, big public orator, but actually this guy when you listen to him comes across as the most mild mannered nationalist I think I've ever heard of......

(Jim Kent, owner of Barcelona City FM at 7:50) Yes, we had about half a million Catalans, now the main tenor of that particular protest was concerning political prisoners because the two Jordi's as they now known, they were the leaders of the Catalan National Assembly, they were arrested about a week ago....

Don't underestimate the strength of passion here......

Nigel Farage with guests discussing the situation in Catalonia and some interesting perspective on a situation that will continue to develop Friday through Saturday with the Spanish government's actions to take over government there and a possible UDI (Unilateral Declaration of Independence) when the Catalan parliament meets Thursday.

Mr. Kent, the last person interviewed in my excerpt from Nigel Farage's show, figures half the local police force will not take orders from Madrid if the local force is taken over.

He also figures a million will take to the streets if the Spanish government arrests Catalan leaders on treason charges.

I was in Barcelona over the weekend and am now sitting in the VIP lounge at the airport, waiting for our flight back to Malaga. We saw a few demonstrations and lots of camera crews from the networks but mostly tourists like any other day.

I love listening to Nigel Farage.
He is an intelligent speaker unlike our politicians.

Nigel beats my senator and congressman from the GOP any day of the week.

They are too busy drinking and dispensing the Kool Aid for the Corporatist elites.

Well, it's a hard thing to comprehend, from this vantage.

The last I knew of Barcelona was when it hosted the Olympics in 1992, rated a great success. Barcelona was just a city in Spain, as far as we knew at that time. What has changed?

The history that came long before the Barcelona Olympics included a Catalan nation absorbed into the larger nation of Spain.

Its like the Welsh nation and Scottish nation being absorbed into a larger British nation.

In more recent times, the troubled economic times we live in, people in Catalonia which has great wealth see their taxes going to other parts of Spain.

Its like a Texan watching their taxes go to New York and California or up in Canada an Albertan seeing their money go to Ontario or Quebec.
