I was drafted into the Vietnam fiasco and I feel like anyone who could have avoided that political war is OK in my book . Were the lives of 58,900 service members worth the 10 years we spent there only to surrender . When it was over I worried so much for the good folks in the South and the Cambodians who suffered immensely for supporting the USA .

I was 1-A in ‘72, trying to finish my degree in the last semester. The lottery didn't get me...

Dittos to your post. My beef is not with those who protested the war but those who trashed America, embraced leftism and spit on our Vietnam Vets.

As a 'Nam vet I agree - to a point. The cowards who went to Canada made a decision and should have never been allowed back into the US.

I still don’t understand what the threat was to the United States that warranted our getting involved in the Vietnam War, leading to such tremendously painful loss in lives and treasure.

An utter waste of good men and treasure. Started and escalated by the Democrat Machine.

I enlisted at the beginning of the end (1972) and made a career of the service. The All Volunteer Army (and all services) was a good start.

Even mow, the Draft both as law and as a administration, an abomination left over from W.Wilson (A racist Dem of the first stripe) still exists. END the draft. NOW.

After all, slavery was abolished, was it not?
