FROM ONE MEAN MOM
We had the meanest mother in the whole world! While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast. When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches. And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too. Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison. She had to know who our friends were, and what we were doing with them. She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less. We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do. She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds. Then, life was really tough! Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the door so she could meet them. Everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13
.we had to wait until we were 16. Because of our mother we missed out on lots of things other kids experienced. None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's property, or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault. We never got drunk, took up smoking, stayed out all night, or a million other things other kids did. Sundays were reserved for church, and we never missed once. We knew better than to ask to spend the night with a friend on Saturdays. Now that we have left home, we are all God-fearing, educated, honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was. I think that is what's wrong with the world today...it just doesn't have enough mean moms anymore.

Welcome to the Canteen, DaveA37, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
We ARE related via the Mean Moms’ Club. LOL!
My Mom was part of that club, and passed just a month ago after 92 and half years on this earth.

The same teams I have always liked: Notre Dame, Navy and Penn State.
Sadly, Navy couldn't pull it out today. Notre Dame looking good at the half.

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

We had a mean Mom and a mean Aunt. The marine DIs had nothing on them. But lucky for us, sisters and brothers were Mean too and have wonderful citizens

Yeah, it feels soooo good. Now I just have my normal yearly checks which are no biggie - they just want to make sure I hadn’t picked up any bad habits like speaking with competing airline pilots - those United guys, sheesh!

Good evening, radu...and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours....a bit late.
Hope you are having nice weather....it snowed yesterday, and maybe tomorrow too. Then “they” say a week of rain. YUCK!! One or the other, but not both.

Howdy, Kathy.
EEEEK!! Snow already?
And now they’re calling for rain? That’s gonna be fun ..... NOT! It sounds like our typical winter weather and it makes for slippery streets. I feel for ya!
Warm here today but cloudy and windy as a cold front closes in. We’ll have rain and possibly some thunderstorms, then get pretty nippy by Wed. Could have frost in some areas mid-week. brrrr

Well, we have all dispersed now. Most left early this morning and I got off, reluctantly, by about 11am.
It was another great one for the books!
