Jobs good! Business growth good!

And taxes millions of home owners by THOUSANDS of DOLLARS per YEAR - -- - BAD!

I guess this helps YOU! But screws millions of others.

You have to see this.

Subsidized high local and state taxes are not conservative ideas. We don’t get to deduct SS and Nedicare taxes. why should people in Alabama keep their state taxes low while Chicago tax the hell out of their citizens and federal tax is reduced due to high deductions. Will it hurt some - yes but your local and state is screwing you but don’t shift the cost to other states.

More importantly I absolutely hate SS and Medicare. Let us out! Kill it. It’s a generational transfer and there is no more evil tax.

Do away with all deductions. Tax everyone at the same rate or have 2 or at most 3 tax rates if politicians have to have a progressive tax but no exemptions for anyone! There should be no social engineering in taxes.

I know there will be just 3 brackets but no one has said where the breaks will be. That is going to make a big difference for the middle class.

That has nothing to do with eliminating the state and local tax deduction.

Plank #2 of the Communist Manifesto, a highly-graduated income tax, AKA “tax the rich.”

44 million out of how many? That would be roughly 240 million.

Oh, OK. If it screws me and my family - TOO BAD. But if it benefits you - GOOD.

And to simply tell you that this is wrong is reason for many to attack me on this thread. Read them.

Face it - this bill is a disaster.

“This tax bill will punish 44 Million Americans who claim the state and local tax exemption”

pretty much well-to-do folk in high tax states like NJ, IL, CA, and NY. boo fricking hoo ...

“all to “pay for” a massive tax break for corporations who have paid off K Street in Washington.”

and who the hell actually PAYS those “corporate” taxes? We do! Those tax costs are simply passed along. Much better to eliminate ALL business taxes and free up the money for capital investment. Anything extra that MIGHT get passed along in the form of dividends (instead of being used for capital investment) will get taxed at the receiving end.

Listen to me. Just because all of us do not live Alabama or Mississippi does not mean we are not patriots or conservatives. Furthermore, we will get ZERO tax relief because you are raising or taxes to the Federal government.

Your way is the definition of selfhish behavior, and of ignoring the legitimate concerns of citizens.

“as the rest of us pay thousands of dollars more in taxes”

If you’re going to repeat liberal propaganda like that, you need to give specifics. Exactly how are you going to pay more?

So stand on your governor's and mayor's desks and get them to cut their taxes.

“You can Google the bill. You can also Google the latest news on it. “

Those are two different things. Like you, reporters can’t read, perform logical reasoning, or keep to the facts as they are written without acting irrationally using their ignorant emotions.

. Stop reading liberal propaganda.

I am NOT doing that. I am telling you, and bunch of FReepers who are totally brain dead on this issue - the facts.

Tell me this Code Toad - and I want you to respond:

If the State and Local Tax Deduction (SALT) is so evil, why does the GOP bill preserve it for corporations and business, but not individuals?

Before you answer, I will tell you that better give me more than emotional rhetoric.

I moved from a high tax state to a no income tax in 2002.
I voted state income tax away entirely with my feet.

It’s not rocket science.

So stand on your governor's and mayor's desks and get them to cut their taxes.

So the answer is that as long as it benefits you, and if conservatives in other states have to pay through the nose for big corporations (who get to retain the state and local tax deduction by the way in the current bill), they you are good with it.

I am a military veteran. I served this nation in combat (did you???), but because I work and live in a state you and Paul Ryan have contempt for, I am less of an American?

That is what you are saying to me.

Let me jump in here, corporations pay taxes for their shareholders. If the corporation tax is reduced, the shareholders receive more. The shareholders then will pay taxes on the added income. However, having the corporations pay this tax up front results in corporations needing to charge more to make a profit. This higher charge results in people buying products from a lower tax rate corporation if the products are equivalent. This is why the corporation tax rate matters. All countries are not judged the same on this until all countries use the same corporate tax level.

This bill does that and this is a good thing.

Middle class tax payers are expected to benefit from being put in a lower tax bracket (not known yet what they are) and the hike of the standard deduction. For me, I can itemize deductions only if I work hard at keeping all records, the doubling of the standard deduction will push me into the non-itemizing group and my tax preparation team will not have to work so hard. If they don’t drop my costs I can go back to doing my taxes myself.
