HANOVER, N.H. — Josh Bean had two short touchdown runs, the Columbia defence had two goal-line stands in the last three minutes and the Lions held on to defeat Dartmouth 22-17 on Saturday to match their best start in 21 years.

Following Bean’s second score, the Lions (6-0, 3-0 Ivy League) led 22-7 entering the fourth quarter in the 11th meeting in conference history between undefeated teams with at least five games played. They were in position to put the game away before Bun Straton’s end zone interception on the Lions’ next possession.

Dartmouth (5-1, 2-1) followed with an 80-yard drive capped by Drew Estrada’s first career score, a 38-yard catch-and-run to pull to 22-17.

A STUNNING game! I followed it mostly on Twitter. Next week Columbia plays Yale but since Columbia has had such a yuuuuuge turnaround this year, shouldn't one of the networks televise it nationally? It would get a big audience.

p.s. A friend of mine was watching it live in NH. He is a Lions fan so he probably alternated from biting his fingers down to the knuckles to letting out a big sigh of relief at the final sack.

Former President Obama would be pleased, had he actually attended Columbia.

Remember the No Wins season ?
after season, after season, after season . . .
then one, then two wins? woo hoo!
felt practically Rockne-like!

Toothless lions,
and the neighborhood sucked too!
But Amir’s has always been groovy.

Roar Lions Roar. Columbia ‘61 and former team mate and room mate of Bill Campbell ‘62 and team mate and fraternity brother of Bob Kraft. Both of these men were so successful they gave to Columbia our Campbell Field House and Kraft Field.

My job was to serve as a bad example.

When I was at Columbia, the college was in its 17th winless year. From that experience I concluded that morals and morale are closely aligned. Columbia went on to rack up the longest losing streak in college history.

There wins this year suggest a big reformation has come over the school
