I lived about six blocks from the Chanel 17 Studio. We were on Webber's show several times. 1967-ish thru 1975.

"All Righty Rooneys".(Starr) Webber had give away contests and drawings for clothes, toys, coats, and you name it?

Fun stuff, when as kids we roamed free and lived a Tom Sawyer-ish wild streak as long as your parents didn't get any complaints. We used to play archery golf with compound bow and arrows. Par 5 to drive a tennis ball from 25 yards into a briefly stopped car at the street stop sign. Ride horses all over God's creation at all times of the day and night. Left the house by 9:00AM in the summer and would squeak back just in time for dinner, then play kick the can or half ball until we slept on someone's back porch in sleeping bags.

Oh how times have changed.

Yeah...times have certainly changed. We left the house after breakfast and came home for dinner all summer long. My parents would probably get arrested for that today. After dinner we could stay outside until the street lights came on. we had all the freedom we could possibly want as long as we were home on time for dinner and when those lights came on. My father enforced those two rules with an iron fist...or rather a leather belt!

Sounds very much like my Summers as a kid. Up and out at 7am. Walking to various fishing spots. Lunch was what you caught. Hiking about town looking for a place to set up a camp for our tent. Doing some chores for local ranch owners so he’d let us ride his horses for a while. Back in time for supper, washed and presentable.
