Charlottesville is already Berkeley East. Bunch of raving moonbats live there.
Except my daughter who is one of the few sane conservatives in town.
I saw the handwriting on the wall 12 years ago, that’s why I left.
The swampdwellers of Northern VA would love to californicate Virginia.
Gillespie is a milk-toast amnesty loving RINO from New Jersey.
The same people who want us to get out the vote for him did not get out to vote for Cucinelli last time around.
Might be karma.
The main problem is that we have lots of voters living in the Washington DC suburbs of northern Virginia (Alexandria and Fairfax Counties). A few more places - the area around Norfolk and the City of Richmond - also add to the Democratic vote. I hope we get Gillespie, but I won’t be surprised if NOVA (northern Virginia) wins again.
"I think our governments will remain virtuous for many centuries; as long as they are chiefly agricultural; and this will be as long as there shall be vacant lands in any part of America. When they get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, they will become corrupt as in Europe." - Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, December 20, 1787Get out the vote in that great part of Virginia which has not been "corrupted" by the Progressive ideology!
I lived in Northern Virginia from 99 to 2003. I could not believe how much it changed in those 4 years. It did remind of the change I saw in California when I lived there from 85 to 89. Everything was great and there were lots of opportunities and then people started electing liberal democrats and it was down hill from there.
Your outgoing governor, Terry McAuliffe, has been a southern, more soft-spoken version

McAwful is a carpet-bagging New Yorker and anyone who listens to him knows he is not a Virginian.
The state is owned by Northern VA and that’s not changing in my lifetime, IMO.
I honestly never thought I’d see the day when Pennsylvania and Michigan have a brighter future than Virginia.
Too late. The 4 swamp counties in the DC suburbs as well as Richmond ensure Virgina is a solid blue state.
Recognizing that an intense race for governor is taking place right now, I feel compelled to speak out on the upcoming governors election, not just on behalf of Virginians, but with a clear vision of awakening voters all over the country about the dangers of illegal immigration.

We’ve been screaming our heads off for decades about illegal aliens, but Bush associates like Gillespie ignored us and tried to marginalize us to keep the flow going. Their only answer has always been amnesty.
He refused to use Warner’s vote for Rubio’s amnesty against him in the Senate race and that is why he lost.
Even now he is only talking about removing those illegal aliens who have been caught and convicted of victimizing Americans, nothing about removing ALL of them BEFORE they have a chance to harm or kill Americans.
His defense of the Confederate monuments is solely that it would be a waste of resources to tear them down.

My state (KS) unswervingly votes (R) for POTUS, and has done so for 52 years straight.
OTOH, the state tends to alternate on local offices - Governor bounces back and forth between (D) and (R).
Guess I'm saying that losing the governorship once doesn't mean your state went "blue".
YMMV
He’s right that Gillespie is not the perfect conservative.
But he’s the only one in the race.
Too many Maryland residents have moved here and they brought their liberal politics with them.
I had hoped that Trump would have started to slash and burn the Federal HQ staffs enough that the lefty Rat voters would be leaving. However, it doesn’t seem to be happening. Northern Virginia has also seen a huge influx of Muslims. I wonder what would happen if the Muslims and MS-13 would get into gang wars?
Virginia is long gone.
Welcome to the Maryland suburbs too.
Virginia’s northern counties have become too populated by bureaucrats to return Virginia to reliable Americanism.
