Chinese President Xi Jinping opened a critical Communist Party Congress on Wednesday with a pledge to build a “modern socialist country” that will never copy the political systems of others and will remain open to the world. […]
“Through a long period of hard work, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. This is a new historical direction in our country’s development,” Xi said in a speech carried live across the nation on state television.
China will relax market access for foreign investment and expand access to its services sector, as well as deepen market-oriented reform of its exchange rate and financial system, while at the same time strengthening state firms, he said.
China’s political system is the broadest, most genuine, and most effective way to safeguard the fundamental interests of the people, Xi said.
“We should not just mechanically copy the political systems of other countries,” he said. …

Socialists will tell you that socialism has nothing to do with communism, or that it’s an economic, not a political system. Xi just contradicted both of these claims.
How many people does that entail starving?
All of them, except the leadership.

China is communist in government only now. The economy is more capitalist than us. The Government lets them do anything they want -except- anything that would lead to political power.
They are basically riding the tiger now. Business leaves the government alone, and government leaves business alone.
Its a weird arrangement, but one that neither side will change. Rise up like Tiennamen Square and the tanks will roll. If the government really actually tried to kill the hardcore capitalist manufacturing economy and go communist there, the government would be taken out and they know it.
There is nothing that China’s doing economically that isn’t in the Communist Manifesto or The Principles of Communism. And once the infrastructure is built, the business can’t abscond with it if the government wants to run it all in earnest.
Dream on. Massive companies are privately owned. The owners are free to travel, be rich, invest, succeed, or fail.
Yeah, there’s a ton going on in the Chinese economy that isn’t found in the communist manifesto. And in economics we are far more controlled and regulated. The government is no longer in control of that sector and has decided to benefit from it...and survive. The communists know they would be ousted if they tried to “run it all in earnest”.
Conversely, business there knows to enjoy the freedom an cash and to stay far away from designs on political power.
In truth, China is far more of a Nazi Germany clone than a communist country Mao wanted. A centralized socialist government, hard expansionist racist nationalism, industry free and privately owned and expected to not oppose the interests of the state.
Infiltrate and gain control of big business.Not so free after all. We see the actions of the CEOs of these businesses, most recently in the NFL, but also when Tim Cook went after Mike Pence when he was still Indiana governor over protecting real marriage, and of course the behavior of several other large corporations having to do with support for “marriage equality” and bathrooms for so-called transgenders.

Most American “socialists” are idiots. A bunch of college professors told them that Socialism is like Christmas every day of the year. They believed it. That takes a special kind of stupid.
With high tech, non-diverse social standard and ideals, and a cooperative people, Socialism is possible. If anyone can pull it off, it’s the Chinese. In a diverse nation, it is impossible. Too many competing ideals and goals.
Nope. There’s still a God, and not even the Chinese can fight Him with socialism; that’s aside from the bloodguilt over their staggering number of abortions (last estimated at 23 million per year). Besides, the communist ideals of abolishing family and private property will eventually be reapplied, further decimating the pseudo-Utopian “cooperative”.

Yes there is a God. He does some of his best work in places where he is illegal. We have freedom here and churches split over the color of the carpet.
But God’s realm is in the spiritual and the eternal. He seems to let Satan run rampant here on earth, so we have the Chinese “perfecting” socialism, just as we have American college professors claiming that we can “perfect” socialism. All humans are sinners. God already knows that.
It was foretold that Satan would run rampant on the earth, as the false god of this age, with the power to deceive all of the world; it’s heading to one singular end. That is who the real author of socialism is.
And the freedom of religion here has been eroded step by step by socialist-minded politicians, elected and unelected.
Sad day for China.
I knew many Chinese that were as American as we are when it came to their desires and ways. Humans have a need for independence and freedom.
The Chinese I knew had that spirit and lived it. They were the younger generations and desired the end to communism and any other form of socialism. They believed in a free market and capitalism and practiced it as much as they could. They were doing well. They hated communism/socialism. This essentially puts the brakes on their entrepreneurship.
Utter BS. China is more capitalist than us.

However, we are in the post-language era. Words mean whatever someone wants them to mean.
Any Communist country that wishes to remain totalitarian, and still survive, must morph into a Fascist country.
