It is not the responsibility of the sitting President to call the families of those lost in combat. Whether they be Republican or Democrat. It is the responsibility of the unit commander.

If a General’s son is KIA, the POTUS should call.

Did anyone actually listen to his press conference. He did not state that previous Presidents had not called families. He said some did, some didn’t, some wrote, some didn’t.

Of course it's the responsibility of the unit commander. But it doesn't mean that the president shouldn't pay his respects to the family with a phone call.

Trump threw his rock. Fine by me. Let him correct the record on HIS terms. If it pushes the lefts button that’s even better. He knows we are not going to abandon him.

Probably not - but if it were your son and there were only a few lost in combat at the time, wouldn't it mean something to you if the Commander in Chief called?

By the way, unit commanders only rarely call the families of the KIA; usually they send letters. The direct contact with the families is done by the Casualty Assistance teams.

So, you think that Barack Obama was right not contacting then Major General John Kelly when his youngest son was killed in combat?

Why would someone who is best friends forever with Bill Ayers care about such a thing?

We all know who Obama really chose to honor and celebrate and that was deserter Bowe Bergdahl, when it had been known for five years by military personnel that he’d deserted and that six men had been killed searching for him.

That was about the most shameless, despicable and bizarre ceremony I recall ever taking place at the White House. That’s when Obama showed his true colors concerning the military.

Trump is smart enough to have his people research such things before he makes a statement. The media hasn’t figured that out yet.

His statement was SOME families didn’t get calls.

The lefties merely pointing to time when families DID get calls dosen’t disprove Trump’s statement.

The press is misquoting Trump again.

Hi.

MSM creates a subject narrative template.

MSM tries to implicate president Trump.

President Trump states the msm (and Dem party) are wrong.

MSM (and Dem party) goes apoplectic.

President Trump doubles (and triples) down with proof.

MSM (Dems) slither away.

Rinse and repeat.

Fun to watch.

Well aware. Did my time as a CACO. Never had to notify but handed enough flags to wives.

So, you think that Barack Obama was right not contacting then Major General John Kelly when his youngest son was killed in combat?

Of all of the evils BHO has done, I would not fault him in this arena. The caveat I would put to that is, as in the case of Gen. Kelly, it would be the utmost courtesy for the POTUS to speak face-to-face with the General, especially when he is a member of the Presidents Cabinet.

Obama was probably too busy honoring the Clock Kid at the White House...especially when he won the Muslim of the Year award from CAIR.
