Report: IRS refuses to give back $59G to vet after seizing his business cash

The Internal Revenue Service is reportedly refusing to give back more than $59,000 to U.S. military veteran after it seized his gas station’s cash during a raid that found no evidence of criminal activity.

Oh Suk Kwon, 73, a South Korea immigrant who came to the U.S. back in the 1970s and served four years as a fleet mechanic in the U.S. army, bought a gas station in Maryland in 2007 following decades of work at an electrical plant as an auto mechanic.

“When I came to the United States, I had to do something for the country,” he told the Washington Post. He later became a U.S. citizen.

Following an honorable discharge, he continued pursuing the American dream, telling the paper: “My whole life was work, work, work.”

But just several years after opening the gas station, IRS investigators seized all the station’s cash – more than $59,000 – leaving the Kwon family cash-strapped, even though no evidence of criminal wrongdoing was found by the government, the paper reported.

Then I’d send them a bill for the cardboard box.

“One thing that stands out is that a lot of people accused of ‘structuring’ do so on the advice of their local bank to ‘avoid paperwork’. I’m betting the local bank then turns around and notifies the Feds, and probably receives some type of reward.”

Bingo. Banks collecting 10% finder’s fee.

This could lead to investigations of banks’ books for customers who had funds confiscated and payments to bank from IRS. Might be a nice card to have to plat against the globalist Wall St. bankers.

Civil asset forfeiture and other government seizures without a serious felony conviction disgust me. That is simple theft, and it is shockingly immoral - even by government standards.

Every single day that goes by without me reading about someone going postal on one of these thieves makes me just shake my head in shame at what America has become.

Under demonic Obama the IRS became a corrupted future tool of the anti-Christ.

While I agree that under the kenyan, the IRS accelerated it's march to tyranny, this started long before him.

...Kwon pleaded guilty to the structuring charge. Kwon said he merely followed the advice given by a local bank, which suggested making smaller deposits to avoid paperwork.

Kinda sealed his fate there.

Forget that presumption of innocence thing.. This is the ‘new normal’ Obammy bragged about and Dems and Pubs codified into our statutes.

Actually, it’s just more of the same old tired crap.

A Big Gubamint that sanction these type of actions is our biggest enemy. An unfettered ruthless one is our ultimate destructor.

This is a sad story.

For many decades our nation had NO income tax. That’s when our nation and its citizens prospered. Sometimes I look at old architecture, the great and beautiful buildings that were built during that time, etc. and wonder how we got to where we are today.

I hope one day America can abolish the concept of an income tax, and go back to what it once was for many decades: a free republic whose citizens are not subject to the IRS (and the Federal Reserve as well) and its rules.

Sometimes I think we’re prisoners standing in the middle of our cells, shouting out through the bars, “I’m free! I’m free!”

I thought the govt had to prove I was guilty, not me prove I am innocent. Oh, but that was long ago, and now my consolation is in the joy of growing old.

So, every single small business owner who makes nightly deposits less than $10,000 is a criminal??????

Under our system of laws and regulations, every single small business owner who makes nightly deposits less than $10,000 is a criminal. It's just a matter of waiting for the government to decide whether you are politically inconvenient enough to prosecute.

Trump could do a lot to reverse this, but he'll have to fight the Socialist Left and the Chamber of Cronies hard to accomplish anything lasting and positive.

Please explain the difference, and illuminate for us the bright line that you think exists between the two.

Hence, a good reason to keep cash in a bank rather than a gas station.

“Forget that presumption of innocence thing.”

That’s only in court. If they always presumed you innocent, you would never get arrested.

Swamp Sessions actually made it a point to say more government theft is coming.

You know, instead of prosecuting Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, Susan Rice, Eric Holder, and so many others.

I’m not asking for your opinion, I’m asking for a short and direct description of the bright line difference between making small deposits and structuring. This is not a matter of opinion but of law. Since it’s so obvious to you.
