CBS earnings to disappoint due to weak NFL ratings, Credit Suisse says

Declining NFL television ratings will lower CBS earnings, according to Credit Suisse.

The firm cut its third-quarter EPS estimates by 5 percent, citing CBS' softer Sunday NFL ratings. The media company reports on Nov. 2.

"We expect third-quarter network advertising to decline 3 percent (previously +1 percent), driven by soft ratings for both the summer schedule and for the start of the NFL season," wrote Credit Suisse analyst Omar Sheikh. "With only one of the three content licensing deals we expected for the second half announced in third quarter, we also expect content licensing revenue growth to be skewed to the fourth quarter."

I bet they'll get tired of losing long before we get tired of winning.

They took NFL fans for granted. They won't stop watching, they smugly said to one another.

The funny thing is, the more you don't watch, the more you wondered why you were so hooked to begin with.

IMHO the only thing the players should be forced to do is accept their lower salaries.

Kneel all you want. I want to know where you stand.

Exactly

I enjoy having “Sundays off” and not wasting the day by having to be home from church for early game, or sit thru beautiful Autumn day in front of TV with all the commericals and their token Affirmative Action Jacksons, watching men act like children playing a child’s game

LOOKITMEEEEEEEEEEEEE

The nets and the NFL are clearly missing another major worry.

Let's say, hypothetically, that the problem of the millionaire ingrates declining to stand and/or honor our Flag/Country/ and Veterans was miraculously solved.

The game viewership numbers would not jump back to where it was.

That is because those of us who were captives to our recliners during NFL games are finding a world of interesting and productive things to do with our time, and we (at least in my case, I) find that I'm not missing a thing, and I'm gaining useful free time.

And, it's lot like all would be forgiven. The NFL chooses to ignore us, and they cannot "unring" that bell. We American patriots seem to have astonishingly long memories.

Yes, it’s a “stop loss” situation right now. CBS executives and board members have a fiduciary duty to their stock holders. They should demand that the NFL fix this toot sweet.

Former football fan. I’ve gained six hours on Sunday, $400, and no longer run the risk of having a drunk spill their beer down my neck. Free at last!

Does the phrase “awakened a sleeping giant” mean anything to you, CBS?
