Former Bush Aide Michael Gerson: ‘Time to Panic’ About POTUS; Explains How Remove Him
Breitbart ^ | 10/15/17 | Rebecca Mansour

Posted on 10/16/2017 9:16:54 AM PDT by Enlightened1

Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson, a former senior aide to President George W. Bush, used his Friday op-ed to warn establishment Republicans that “the time for panic and decision is upon us.”

Gerson urges Republicans to join Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) in publicly raising two questions: “Is Trump psychologically and morally equipped to be president? And could his unfitness cause permanent damage to the country?”

If the reports are true that the majority of Senate Republicans agree with Corker’s comment that Trump could cause “World War III,” then Gerson exhorts them to publicly act on their convictions.

Though Gerson does not explicitly state how he would like them to act, the Washington Post offers a clue.

At the very end of Gerson’s column, the Post has embedded a video made by one of their staffers titled “How does the 25th amendment work?”

The video’s caption reads: “The 25th Amendment sets forth a procedure for removing a president from office. Here’s how it’s enacted.”

As the video explains, “Section IV of the amendment states that the Vice President and at least 13 of 24 cabinet members must agree to transfer power out of the hands of a sitting president. They would notify Congress and the vice president would take office as the acting president.”

From Gerson’s column in the Washington Post:

[T]he real problem has always been Trump’s fundamental unfitness for high office. It is not Trump’s indiscipline and lack of leadership, which make carrying a legislative agenda forward nearly impossible. It is not his vulgarity and smallness, which have been the equivalent of spray-painting graffiti on the Washington Monument. It is not his nearly complete ignorance of policy and history, which condemns him to live in the eternal present of his own immediate desires.

True conservatives (and I like to number myself among them) have grown increasingly uncomfortable with the direction that the pubbies have gone. It was sickening to see them shouting, “We’re Number Two!” (and I extend that pun to include the scatological).

I have been a “reliable Republican” voter since I cast my first vote right out of high school but in recent years pondered the possibility of 3rd party vote or simply walking away in disgust. Trump was my “one last best effort” vote and (for the first time in decades) an enthusiastic one.

I’m glad to see the skunks finally revealed and rebuked. I have no interest in hobnobbing with weasels any more. And I’m loving that the Trump Effect is crashing both parties - a pox on them all.

As for impeachment all I have to say is Molon Labe Mofos!

Exactly, in Mr Gerson’s world it is insane to actually try and accomplish the things the people who voted for you wanted. A politician is just supposed to pay lip service to the wishes of the people and sell out to the lobbyists.

This is desperation from the corrupt Republican Establishment.

You're "right as rain" with that statement.

They're the turd circling the bowl and are getting very, very desperate.

Gerson thinks he’s living in some South American hellhole where ‘the elites’ get to make the call on ‘which of them’ gets to run the country.

It doesn’t work that way here Gerson...

In the United States people ELECT their leaders and we the people ELECTED Donald J Trump to be OUR PRESIDENT.

The American people are today much wiser about how the ruling establishment controls this country, much more than they were per the JFK assassination and who was actually behind his removal from the WH. Agree, the American people will not be as tolerable if they remove Trump.

The Bush plan is to impeach and remove Trump, Pence becomes President, and Pence then nominates Jeb Bush as VP to bipartisan acclaim.

Bush then loses to the Dem in 2020, which is the same job he was to accomplish in 2016 if it were not for Trump.

Whether Pence allows himself to be part of this is still a question.

Which makes the timing of the Las Vegas shooting and the corresponding push to grab guns REEEEEEEEAL interesting.

I wonder if all of these “dreamers’ plan on checking with the military before they try and pull this nonsense, because they are going to need them when the base demonstrates that they have had enough?

They don’t care. They think this is THEIR country, don’tcha know?

This guy just wants attention. Major evil idiot.

He should just shut up and stop trying to undermine a Republican president.

“warn establishment Republicans that “the time for panic””

it probably IS time for establish Republicans to panic, but not because of Trump per se, but because Trump and Bannon have ripped off their masks and exposed them as the back-stabbing, lying scum that they are, and for the first time ever, there’s a real posibility that some of them will not be re-elected but instead will be replaced with pro-Trump populists like Kelly Ward, Marsha Blackburn, and Roy Moore.

“Don’t these jerks realize what would happen to them if they ever tried such a thing g in this country?”

I have come to believe they really don’t. They have inside-the-beltway blinders just like the other ones. The first one that decorates a lamp post will have been surprised. After that the rest will have a collective “oh sh!t, they weren’t kidding” moment.

It’s bad enough to watch the despicable Democrat party and the media, continually try to throw our president out of office, but to watch these RINO Republican traitors doing the same, INFURIATES me the most.

Any conservative, who sees all of this rage coming against this man from these liberal scumbags, who watches President Trump as he FEARLESSLY, plunges a dagger into the heart of the New World Order over and over again, and yet, still questions his allegiance to our country and the conservative base that put him in office, need to shut their potholes and just wait for the millennial reign of Christ, because they will NEVER have another leader with the courage and conviction to take on what he is taking on EVERY day.

With people like this having been in government, is there any question as to why the Republican party, i.e GOPe, is in the sorry shape it is.

Right there with you.

If they manage to remove Trump, it’s clear that the ballot box has become irrelevant.

Time to open the other box.
