The BSA had 4.8 million members at its peak in 1970. They’re down to 2.2 million now — even though the U.S. population has grown by more than 50% since 1970. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t see that as a complete disaster.
Troops and packs still thrive. The statistic has a parallel in the decline in church attendance.
