Well I was lucky, because almost everyone likes firefighters. The manager at the Jack in the Box near our station used to give us half price hamburgers. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of mentioning it to my battalion chief one day and he told me that we couldn’t accept the discount anymore. When I tried to explain that to the manager she took it in the wrong way... like it was some sort of insult.
Heck, I would have volunteered to make the burgers for the policemen. I worked fast food at one time.
Then I would have offered to pay the tab! Keep yourself honest and real.
When I was young and worked at Starbucks, I made it a point to give free coffee to cops and firemen.
I also gave free ground coffee to the traffic judge. That paid off heartily when I went before him for driving on a suspended license.
The case was dismissed, yay!
(And I was TOTALLY driving on a suspended license.)
