What I’ve read is .44magnum or 30-30 works well on them but their magazines are tubular and in the case of a Ruger .44 magnum a five shot rotary (which I know you know ) - or a 12ga pump. In any case you have to sling lead at them pretty fast. And yep, been to some of those specialty meat stores where they have those meats they so desperately crave to show off at dinners.

That works okay if the hogs are operating solo and you manage to place your shots precisely. Sometimes they operate in groups - and attack in same. Sometimes a Saiga-12 12 gauge automatic shotgun with a 12 round drum magazine isn’t enough.

Feral hogs are the kind of game/vermin that actually *require* something approaching military grade hardware.
