No one ever brings up the self-policing aspect that the NFL lacks. They had to come up with lame rules to stop “excessive” celebration, they couldn’t rely on cool players to just take care of it. In MLB, there are 162 games to send a message to jerkwads. No one likes getting stuck with 90+ mph in the ribs.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, son of a anti-war Republican US Senator, is going to continue with a policy of allowing kneeling during the National Anthem as long as it takes to bring pressure on Trump. That is what the whole charade about this issue is about.
That booger eating moron Cappernick decided he was going to disrespect the flag and national anthem. A question I've asked repeatedly to people who claim to support his action is "why not just take a knee on the opening possession 1st and ten? The answer was always, "huh?"
He CHOSE to disrespect the flag and national anthem because he didn't really believe anyone would care, and it would give him a few moments of publicity he wouldn't have had on the sideline. More importantly, he did it because he believed if wouldn't cost him anything.
He, and the NFL management, that could and should have put an end to it immediately, let it fester, and once President Trump weighed in on it, the floodgate of people who felt as did the POTUS just opened. The President voiced what at least half the country, and the majority of football fans felt.
