The NFL said on Friday it has no plans to mandate players stand for the U.S. national anthem, but will rather present a possible solution on how to end the controversial protests when it meets with team owners next week. Commissioner Roger Goodell, along with the head of the NFL Players Association, will meet with the owners from Oct. 17-18 in New York where the issue of player protests during the U.S. national anthem is expected to command much attention.

“(Goodell) has a plan that he is going to present to owners about how to use our platform to both raise awareness and make progress on issues of social justice and equality in this country,” NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said on a conference call.

If these players really want to help the black "community", they should be going into black neighborhoods and urging young black men to NOT engage in illegal behavior, stay in school, get jobs, and be loyal to their families, among other things.

They want to pretend that the reasons young black men come in contact with the police is solely because the police are racist and are "oppressing" them, which is nonsense.

>>NFL not seeking mandate for players to stand during anthem<<

A more accurate headline would be:

“NFL enters into suicide pact with players/owners”

Screw the NFL. Not gonna watch. College football until they stop standing up for America. Don’t think that will be a problem in the SEC.... But don’t know about Mizlo.

They just don’t understand that fans aren’t interested in being put on guilt trips by poorly informed multi-millionaire sports figures.

People don’t pay to go to movies, concerts and sports arenas to be lectured or watch political demonstrations.

Any “solution” that doesn’t unconditionally result in these pampered, overpaid thugs standing silently and reverently with hands moved hearts is not a solution, but a capitulation.

By Superbowl time the NFL will want a mandate to force businesses to buy Superbowl advertising.

Well guess that these wealthy football team owners a) have no problem repaying all the money they got from the Feds to build all those grand stadiums and b) they wont any future inducements, concessions or tax breaks from Anyone else in the future to finance their teams.

It is a free market capitalist system we have here in the usa, right?

Sorry, but that doesn’t work, either. They might stand there but they would not be sincere and certainly not reverently.

They spoiled NFL football and nothing will bring it back.

Dear Roger,

While you were dithering we’ve moved on. Sorry.

Say “Hey!” to Mama an’ ‘em.

Love,

White middle class former NFL fans.

True, and true. But, the problem is that a very large percentage of NFL fans are such selfishly addicted spectators that they will choose to block out all the BS and pretend that it’s meaningless. The ones who live long enough are going to find out otherwise.

I don’t care if they stand or not. I already know how they feel and I already know how I feel.

I’m done with the NFL regardless of outcome or changes.

Even if they do that, many will be faking it. That’s why it doesn’t matter what they do now. Everyone knows how they really feel.
